It was a wise choice for Luo Xia to dump Luo Fei onto Matt; otherwise, someone like him, who spent his previous life living under the Red Flag, probably wouldn't have been able to endure such a forced, awkward baptism of revolutionary songs.
The pier was not far from the warehouse, less than a kilometer by any estimation. By the time Luo Xia ran over there, only two of the four trucks had been unloaded.
Although they were loaded with people, making the weight distribution somewhat uneven, the person operating the crane didn't care how the people inside were being tossed about, roughly maneuvering the containers down.
With that kind of force, it was likely that the people inside would be battered and bloodied, if not worse. Luo Xia knew very well that these Russian gangsters didn't view those inside the containers as human beings at all, but merely as cargo.
Luo Xia didn't make a move just yet. Only two containers had been loaded, and with the group split between the ship and the dock, it would be difficult to resolve the situation in one go.
Quietly slipping into the water, Luo Xia swam toward the freighter. Using the magnetic adhesion of his Sensor Glove, he climbed directly up the side of the ship.
By the time a soaked Luo Xia climbed onto the deck, the very last container had been secured. The crane shut down, the gangway was retracted, and the freighter completely severed its connection to the pier.
They only needed to weigh anchor to head out into international waters, where they would sell the women and children inside the containers without anyone being the wiser. Unfortunately for them, as the anchor roared upward, they had no idea that an uninvited guest had already quietly boarded the ship.
Luo Xia didn't head toward the location of the containers; instead, he crept toward the captain's cabin.
The journey was smooth, likely because the sailors were busy with the cargo handover. Consequently, when Luo Xia reached the captain's cabin, he found only a first mate dozing inside.
Luo Xia gripped the man's throat, and before the first mate could fully wake up, an Alloy Dagger sprang from his wrist, piercing the man's throat.
The artery was severed, and blood gushed out, clogging the windpipe. In moments, the man choked to death on his own blood.
"Violet, can you control this ship?" Luo Xia asked.
Violet transformed into her robotic form, crouching over the complex instruments and stabbing her metallic tentacles into the console.
After a moment, Violet replied helplessly, "Commander, this freighter relies more on mechanical transmission than computer control from the captain's cabin. At most, I can control the anchor and lock the rudder."
"That's enough. I want to make sure this ship can't leave port. Also, don't lower the gangway; I don't want anyone else getting on board," Luo Xia ordered.
"That, I can do," Violet agreed.
With a piercing, jarring sound, the anchor that had been steadily rising stopped instantly and plummeted back down at several times its previous speed, splashing a massive wave into the water.
This seemed to act as a signal; the horn of war had sounded.
As the Russians scrambled toward the captain's cabin to see what was happening, Luo Xia had already pushed open the cabin door and stepped onto the deck.
His dual Pulse Pistols were fully charged, and his Tactical Goggles turned the dim night into bright daylight; every move these Russians made could not escape Luo Xia's eyes.
"Li Bai, let's see who gets more kills," Luo Xia grinned.
"This subordinate would not dare compare himself to the Commander, but since you are in the mood, I shall accompany you. However, if I am fortunate enough to win, might I request a day off?" Li Bai asked.
"A day off? Why?" Luo Xia was completely caught off guard that his robotic subordinate would ask for a paid vacation. Oh wait, they all worked for free anyway.
"Violet requested that I help her purchase a book called Gintama," Li Bai replied.
Luo Xia: "Why did you agree to buy her manga? Besides, where would you get the money?"
Li Bai said awkwardly, "During our previous mission, though it was unavoidable, I took advantage of that young lady. Now that she has a request, I can only offer my humble assistance. As for the money, I must ask for the Commander's sponsorship."
Luo Xia: "..."
Do robots also care about the social distance between men and women? Or was it just Li Bai? Luo Xia always felt like he was being played by that girl, Violet.
"Fine, if you win, everything is negotiable," Luo Xia decisively chose not to get involved in the daily interactions of his subordinates.
Hearing this, Li Bai offered an apology, leaped from Luo Xia's shoulder, and vanished into the thick night.
Even with the aid of his Tactical Goggles, Luo Xia could barely track Li Bai's movements.
Immediately following, a series of screams erupted; Li Bai had already begun harvesting heads.
Luo Xia whistled in approval and broke into a sprint. Just as he passed a corner, his muzzle shifted, and he pulled the trigger for less than half a second.
With a soft explosion, three Pulse Energy Blasts flew out, blowing the three Russian thugs at the corner away. By the time they hit the ground, Luo Xia had already passed through the smoke, flicking his wrist to fire another shot and claim two more lives.
The combination of Tactical Goggles and Sensor Glove, along with the Target Lock auto-aim, allowed Luo Xia to reach the level of the legendary Li Feidao; almost every Pulse Energy Blast hit a vital point, killing with a single strike.
Luo Xia was now like the gun-toting mutant from X-Men Origins: Wolverine, acting as a grim reaper, using bullets to hand these wicked Russians one-way tickets to hell—tickets they couldn't refuse.
There were about fifty sailors on the ship. Luo Xia had been killing his way from the captain's cabin along the deck toward the bow, and in just over ten minutes, he had already taken out more than twenty. Just as he thought he had the win in the bag, the gunfire gradually ceased, and the final few screams came from the far side of the bow.
Li Bai, transformed into a dove, flapped his wings and flew back, saying to Luo Xia, "Commander, I have come to report. Thirty beheaded, two fell into the water with heavy injuries. The deck has been cleared."
Checking the records on his Tactical Goggles, Luo Xia realized he had only killed twenty-two enemies—a full ten short.
Luo Xia: "..."
Sometimes, having subordinates who are too capable is quite stressful.
"Fine, I'll give you the day off in two days, and I'll cover the cost of the books, alright?" Luo Xia said helplessly.
At that moment, Violet, who had just gained a massive advantage, sent an urgent communication: "Commander, I have located the nuclear waste."
Previously, Violet had discovered that although Global Consolidated Investment used nuclear waste recycling as a front, they were actually engaged in human trafficking. However, to maintain their cover, they still needed to recycle a small amount of nuclear waste to pass inspections.
And as it turned out, that nuclear waste was right here on this ship.
