Arrival at Shrek Academy

Wang Dong enters Shrek under a male disguise, which Jiang Yang immediately recognizes as concealing Tang Wutong's identity. Their first meeting becomes confrontational when he refuses to answer her questions. She accepts his proposed wager: the loser must obey the winner until winning a rematch 1.

Jiang Yang defeats her without using his Martial Soul. Although Wang Dong remains unconvinced, she admits defeat and accepts responsibility for cleaning their room daily and bringing him meals, with him covering the food costs. Advice from the elderly dormitory guardian, followed by seeing Jiang Yang resume cultivation immediately, begins to turn her resentment into respect 2.

Wang Dong's upbringing in the Clear Sky Sect included extensive pampering. Before meeting Jiang Yang, she rarely replaced sleep with meditation; his greater strength and relentless training awaken her competitive drive, leading her to cultivate through the night 21.

Defending Jiang Yang

After Jiang Yang defeats Xu Sanshi, Wang Dong realizes that he had held back during their own fight. When Xu Sanshi prepares to attack again, she steps in front of Jiang Yang and releases her two soul rings, protesting the senior's treatment of freshmen 4.

She also defends Jiang Yang when Zhou Yi threatens to expel him. During the ensuing battle, Wang Dong uses Butterfly Goddess Light against the teacher and benefits from Jiang Yang's perception-enhancing support. Zhou Yi's fifth soul skill ultimately allows her to strike Wang Dong, throwing her over a hundred meters and making her spit blood. Wang Dong flies into the evil fire surrounding Jiang Yang during Ma Xiaotao's rampage, forcing him to protect her as well as Jiang Nannan. She later wakes to find Yan Shaozhe waiting and Jiang Yang absent 16 17.

When Yan Shaozhe pressures Jiang Nannan to abandon Jiang Yang, Wang Dong invokes the Clear Sky Sect's backing and warns that it will not ignore his actions.
