Uchiha Tekka seemed to sense the dissatisfaction in Yan's words and immediately broke out in a cold sweat. He hurriedly picked up the analysis report from the table and nodded.
"Y-Yes, Lord Yan. I'll analyze it carefully and do my best to help more clan members awaken their eyes!"
Yan stood up, walked over to Uchiha Tekka, and patted him on the shoulder.
"Don't worry. I've been very satisfied with your performance lately, and I believe you can do it."
"Rest assured, Lord Yan!" Uchiha Tekka straightened his chest. "I definitely won't disappoint you."
"Good!" Yan affirmed him as he headed toward the door.
"I'm going to report to the clan head and get some more funding. I'll leave the Casino to you."
"Understood!"
"..."
When Yan arrived at Uchiha Fugaku's residence, he knocked heavily three times.
Before long.
The front door opened, and a small head poked out from inside.
Short black hair, black eyes, long lashes, and two deep tear troughs running down either side of his nose.
"Itachi!" Yan smiled and rubbed Uchiha Itachi's head. "I'm here to see Clan Head Fugaku."
Uchiha Itachi recognized him as well.
Over this period, Yan had come to visit his father quite often.
After opening the door, he respectfully said,
"Lord Yan, please come in!"
Yan stepped inside.
As they walked toward Uchiha Fugaku's reception hall, Yan made small talk with Uchiha Itachi.
"Itachi, how has your little brother been lately?"
At the mention of his younger brother, a smile appeared on Itachi's face despite himself.
"He's doing well. Every day, he eats, sleeps, then wakes up and eats again."
Yan nodded to himself and reached out to rub Itachi's head again. "That really is nice. Carefree and without worries."
"You should learn from your little brother. Don't spend every day overthinking things, or you'll think yourself stupid."
Itachi first dodged Yan's hand before answering, "But I still don't understand. Why can't the Uchiha Clan coexist with Konoha?"
Yan felt somewhat helpless at that question and sighed.
"Because the Hokage's faction won't give us that chance!"
"What do you mean?" Itachi tilted his head, looking even more confused.
Just as Yan was about to say more to brainwash Uchiha Itachi, Uchiha Fugaku suddenly appeared in the corridor.
When he saw Yan, he smiled and came forward to greet him. "Yan, you're here. I've been waiting for you for a long time!"
As he spoke, he pulled Yan over to a chair in the hall and had him sit down.
At the same time, he said to Itachi beside them,
"Itachi, Mikoto is cooking, and no one is watching Sasuke. Go take care of him."
"Yes, Father!" Itachi replied, then immediately ran toward Sasuke's room.
After Itachi left, Uchiha Fugaku poured Yan a cup of tea and asked,
"Yan, you didn't come here just to catch up, did you?"
"Of course not!" Yan smiled and nodded, pulling a report from his robes.
"This contains information on the clan members who awakened their eyes recently. There are three in total, all ordinary clan members."
"Really?" Uchiha Fugaku hurriedly took the report and began reading it carefully.
The rustling of turning pages sounded like autumn leaves swept up by the wind.
Each page turn seemed to carry a weighty sense of mission.
Uchiha Fugaku's gaze was focused and eager, his expression sometimes solemn and sometimes easing.
Only after a long while did he set the report down and burst out laughing.
"Hahahaha! I knew you could do it, Yan! This concerns the future of our Uchiha Clan!"
"And in such a short time, three clan members have already awakened their eyes. That proves this method is viable."
At that point, Uchiha Fugaku calmed his heaving chest and continued,
"I think this experiment can already be considered a success. The only question is whether we can continue expanding its scale!"
Yan smiled faintly. "Of course we can... but we need money!"
Hearing Yan's answer, Uchiha Fugaku looked extremely magnanimous and waved his hand.
"Money is a trivial matter. The strength of our clan members is what matters most."
"I'll give you another thirty million ryo. Over the coming period, make sure more clan members awaken their eyes."
"Then I'll thank the clan head on behalf of the clan members!"
Holding a sealing scroll containing thirty million ryo, Yan left the residence after politely declining an invitation to stay for a meal.
He turned back to look at the tightly shut gates and sneered inwardly.
Once the clan members all recognize the gap between classes and begin to feel the unfairness of life, I hope you'll still be smiling so happily.
By then, your conciliatory methods won't work anymore!
Yan stood there for a moment, then took a deep breath and started walking forward.
Pedestrians came and went along the street, but to him, they seemed like nothing more than an illusory backdrop.
Before he knew it, Yan had arrived outside Shisui's residence.
It was rather strange.
Shisui was clearly an Anbu, yet during this period, he had not gone on any missions. Instead, he had devoted himself entirely to researching genjutsu for overcoming addiction.
Since I'm already here, I might as well ask how the research is progressing.
With that thought, Yan walked to the door and knocked lightly.
He did not wait long before the door opened with a creak, revealing a familiar figure.
When Shisui saw Yan, he asked in surprise, "Yan? Why are you here?"
"You haven't shown up in so long, I was afraid you'd died. I came to check on you!" Yan joked as he casually walked into the house.
After Shisui shut the door, Yan continued,
"How is that genjutsu research coming along?"
The smile that had just appeared on Shisui's face froze. He could not help scratching his head as he awkwardly said,
"Not quite there yet! It's a little difficult to avoid leaving any aftereffects!"
"Then you'd better hurry up!" Yan took a report from his robes and tossed it over.
It was the very report he had just given Uchiha Fugaku, which he had casually swiped back when leaving.
Shisui caught the scroll and opened it.
Before long, his expression became exactly the same as Uchiha Fugaku's.
He raised the report in his hand with a look of delight and asked in disbelief,
"Is this real?"
"Isn't that obvious? Would it be fun to fool you?" Yan rolled his eyes and said irritably, "That's why I said you need to speed things up."
"You've seen what's in there. Under such a huge disparity, some clan members might not be able to hold themselves back."
"Your new genjutsu is very important. It can prevent bloodshed within the clan."
Shisui's expression immediately changed. "It's that serious?"
"Of course!" Yan nodded firmly. "Human nature is a very complicated thing."
"As the saying goes, you may know a person's face, but never their heart!"
"No matter how righteous and noble a person may appear, darkness will inevitably arise within their heart. Under the right circumstances, they may very well release that darkness without restraint, triggering a series of unpredictable and uncontrollable consequences."
As Shisui listened, his expression grew increasingly strange. Then the corner of his mouth twitched.
"Why do I feel like you're talking about the Hokage?"
