"Traitor!"
"This is naked betrayal, treason! Heaven itself must strike them down!"
His flat-lensed glasses were violently smashed against the console, exploding into a shower of fragments. The entire "Special Operations Conference Room" fell deathly silent. Everyone stared fixedly at the screens before them, as though they could make a flower bloom from them.
"D-Director, the Prime Minister is calling."
A police officer beside him timidly handed over the phone.
This was the government's internal line. There was no possibility of it being tapped.
"It's me, Takeya Haru!"
Under normal circumstances, even as Director of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, the middle-aged man would not have been so "discourteous." But now, Director Takeya, his tie pulled loose, had lost all patience for official pleasantries.
"Takeya, calm yourself."
The Prime Minister's composed voice came through the phone.
"Anger will solve nothing. This was a situation we were bound to face sooner or later."
"I understand, Prime Minister."
Rubbing his temples, Director Takeya naturally understood.
Although the Island Nation was nominally a sovereign country, what sovereign nation had 140 foreign military bases? What sovereign nation allowed foreign troops to be stationed in its very heartland? From the instant they discovered the existence of the supernatural, it had only been a matter of time before America learned of it.
"But I never expected it to happen so quickly!"
What Director Takeya found hardest to accept was how quickly America had reacted.
And unless someone who knew the inside story and held a position of great authority had leaked it, even if America had suddenly heard of the supernatural, their first instinct should have been disbelief.
"The matter of the traitor can wait."
"Since things have come to this... can we destroy the target?"
The cold voice over the phone made Director Takeya freeze before he understood.
That was right.
If the Island Nation could not have it, then neither could those American beasts!
No matter how much the media praised "America as the benevolent superior nation," the truth was that most of the Island Nation's upper ranks did not think highly of America. The reason was simple: if one could be a man, who would want to be a dog?
Besides, America had been sucking the Island Nation dry for years. This was hardly the first time.
Even setting aside national righteousness, that money should have belonged to them!
"I'm sorry, it's too late."
Glancing at the surveillance feed, Director Takeya sighed.
Rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat.
One classic UH-60 utility helicopter after another roared through the night sky, circling above Kita-Senju Town, their doorway-mounted machine guns gleaming ominously.
"Those are... America's Black Hawks?"
The "pedestrians" on the streets below had long since been quietly evacuated. Those remaining were all plainclothes officers from the Metropolitan Police Department.
"What are they doing here?"
"Wait, are the American helicopters deploying troops here?"
As they watched the helicopters arrive, circle, and lower ropes one after another, the expressions of the plainclothes officers shifted from confusion to terror.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh.
Fully armed "soldiers of the superior nation" rappelled down one after another.
They swiftly formed a tactical formation, their gun barrels covering all the plainclothes police officers as if ready to begin a massacre at any moment!
"May I ask what your side—"
A Police Superintendent in charge of the scene forced himself forward, attempting to negotiate in English.
"Military operation. No comment!"
The white major leading them cut off any possibility of the other man continuing with a single sentence.
That was not an empty claim. America's military truly had the authority to conduct military operations here, because Tokyo's airspace belonged to America!
That was right. Above the Island Nation lay a region called Yokota Airspace, and it belonged to America.
Yokota Air Base was the headquarters of America's forces stationed in the Island Nation. Within this airspace, Island Nation aircraft could not enter without permission. Otherwise, they would interfere with American military operations and would have to bear the consequences and pay compensation.
This forced the Island Nation's planes to detour, burning fuel to make huge loops before landing. Naturally, those costs were passed directly on to consumers.
The area covered by this airspace included nearly all of Tokyo and the seven surrounding prefectures. Within this region, American planes could take off and land freely, a "privilege" even the Island Nation's Self-Defense Force did not possess.
"You—"
The Police Superintendent tried to say something else, but the superior nation's soldiers shoved their gun barrels right at him!
"Okay, okay."
In this situation, what else could he do but raise his hands and back away?
Was he supposed to stop American bullets with his forehead?
"Damn it!"
Walking out of the ramen shop, Iori Ichika looked up to see a forest of black gun barrels. She clenched her fists, then could only loosen them helplessly.
Yes, she had won medals in international karate competitions. Yes, she had also placed in police shooting competitions. But faced with a row of guns, flesh and blood could only be torn apart on the spot.
If only I had supernatural power too...
"Move aside!"
Under the leading major's furious shout, Iori Ichika had no choice but to lower her head and step aside, revealing:
Tanimura Wataru, his face twisted in fury.
"Fire—"
Without any further nonsense, the American soldiers directly pulled their triggers.
Pfft, pfft, pfft, pfft.
Before Tanimura Wataru could react, he had already been hit more than a dozen times.
More than a dozen dart-like tranquilizer rounds with tail fins embedded themselves in his body, injecting anesthetic into him. Even a "supernatural being" began to sway unsteadily.
Swish, swish, swish!
Several "nets" flew after them, spreading open in midair.
These metal nets, fired from net guns, were enough to restrain lions and tigers tightly.
Thud.
The next second,
Tanimura Wataru, covered in tranquilizer darts and wrapped in a metal net, finally collapsed to the ground.
"Ha, supernatural?"
The white major snorted and waved a hand.
A group of dark-skinned soldiers beneath their helmets immediately surrounded him from every direction.
"Roar... roar...!"
Even after taking more than a dozen tranquilizer rounds, "Tanimura Wataru," wrapped in the metal net, still bared his teeth and snarled. He had not passed out.
"Take him back."
But he only had the strength to struggle now. The white major nodded in satisfaction.
Werewolves really existed.
But why did this one look rather like a dog—
Riiip!!
Just as America prepared to take away its spoils and the Island Nation's police stood there with dejected faces, a sudden change erupted!
A Shiba Inu sprang up and slashed its claws across the white major's neck.
Flesh and bone were like paper before those claws.
His head flew into the air, blood spraying everywhere!
The Shiba Inu's body abruptly expanded, transforming into a half-man, half-dog monster.
"Damn American beasts—"
Amid a clear and standard Island Nation curse, Tanimura Wataru, now in the form of a Werewolf, pounced at the horrified American soldiers!
Beyond seven steps, the gun was fast. Within seven steps, it was both fast and accurate.
That only applied to ordinary creatures. Driven by magical power, Tanimura Wataru erupted with speed that even a cheetah could not match. He became a blur and charged into the soldiers' ranks.
Splat! Splat! Splat!!!
With a sweep of his claws, arms holding guns flew into the air. When he opened his jaws to bite, necks were instantly torn open with holes as wide as bowls.
With his formidable physical strength, Tanimura Wataru plunged into the soldiers and unleashed a bloody slaughter!
Wherever his claws and fangs reached, severed limbs flew alongside spurting blood.
If the Island Nation's government recruited him, Tanimura Wataru could still barely accept it. But falling into America's hands... wasn't America the country that loved making all kinds of dissection films? And judging by their domineering behavior of attacking without a word the moment they landed, he would probably end up wishing for death.
I'll risk it all!
Having kept an ace up his sleeve, Tanimura Wataru had used the Beastman Clone Technique to make the Shiba Inu take his place while he disguised himself as a Shiba Inu. Now he erupted into slaughter like a madman!
"Fire! Fire! Fire!"
The American soldiers who had landed were no pushovers either. They immediately returned fire without pause.
However, most of them were carrying "nonlethal weapons." Though some had ordinary firearms, by the time they drew them, the entire street was already littered with severed limbs, exposed organs, and screams of agony. The lieutenant general directing the scene through the Black Hawk Fighter's surveillance feed was both shocked and furious.
"Cannon teams, prepare—"
Watching his soldiers be slaughtered, the lieutenant general far away in Yokosuka finally lost his patience.
If they could not get a live specimen, a corpse would do!
If the target escaped,
even a lieutenant general like him would not avoid being called back home for questioning.
Just as the Black Hawk helicopters turned one after another and aimed their cannons at the ground:
Fog.
White fog.
It was as though the ground beneath Kita-Senju Town had become a boiling furnace. Billowing white mist appeared from nowhere and spread outward: ten meters, a hundred meters, a thousand meters!
In just a few seconds, the entire First District was enveloped in rolling fog, making it impossible to see even two meters ahead.
????
The fog had appeared too suddenly, too violently.
Several Black Hawk helicopters circling in the sky were swallowed up by the thick mist.
"Oh, fuck!"
"Shit."
Swish.
Just as the helicopter pilots prepared to climb,
sheets of white paper drifted out of the fog, flying through the open doors and slicing beneath the pilots' helmets.
Throat slashing!
Paper Shuriken
