"This is a Runeword?"
In the Dark Half-Plane, after receiving the reward—a 'staff'—from the blacksmith Charsi, Amir eagerly tried it out.
As 'Mana' flowed into the staff, the ruby at its tip lit up. A stream of information entered Amir's mind, and he immediately aimed the staff at a target dummy in the testing grounds:
Whoosh—
A fireball the size of a human head shot forth with a howl.
Boom!!
The fireball struck the practice dummy and exploded, engulfing it in flames.
"Not bad."
It had the power of a Tiger Rank mage's strike, and required neither incantations nor hand gestures.
Fatima, the black-robed girl beside him, glanced at the explosion, but disappointment showed on her face.
If this staff had been for her, it would naturally have been an invaluable treasure. But for Amir, this level of attack was somewhat underwhelming.
He possessed High Priest Imhotep's entire deck, filled with powerful cards. It was only because Amir himself was not strong enough that he could not fully bring out their power.
"No, it's powerful—very powerful!"
After closing his eyes to sense it for a moment, delight appeared on Amir's face.
Besides its built-in 'Fireball' spell, the staff possessed another ability: 'Warmth.'
This ability could absorb the ambient 'Mana' in the surroundings and replenish its wielder. The amount was not large, but it replenished continuously!
In roughly a dozen seconds, it could restore enough Mana to cast a spell.
Don't underestimate this effect. For Amir—
"With this staff, I can even summon 'cards' to assist in battle for extended periods."
The Egyptian Priests' method of fighting with 'cards' was certainly convenient, but it also consumed Spiritual Power, whether summoning monster cards or using magic cards, trap cards, and so on.
That was why, once Amir's group finished a battle, they
