Riddle's Confidence
Despite Fred and George's plausible and reasonable excuses, Mrs. Weasley still twisted their ears.
The reason was that the ink almost sprayed into the plate containing the sausages.
Fortunately, Harry stepped in and took all the blame, so Mrs. Weasley only gave Fred and George a light pinch and let them off the hook.
After Mrs. Weasley left, Harry quietly explained, and Fred and George realized they had misunderstood.
"So, this isn't the kind of automatic inkjet quill pen you want?" Fred asked, rubbing his ears.
"Of course not." Harry wiped the ink off his face. "Why would Hermione write a letter specifically to inquire about something unrelated to her studies?"
Fred and George thought about it, and realized that Hermione, who was so serious and looked like "Professor McGonagall," probably wouldn't do that.
It's worth mentioning that they were the ones who gave him this title.
"It's a quill pen that automatically dispenses ink when writing."
Harry looked at Ron and asked, "Are you carrying it with you now?"
"No." Ron picked up a sausage. "I mean, who carries a quill pen with them to breakfast?"
"My dear brother, could you please bring it to us so we can take a look?" George said with a smile.
Ron wanted to refuse, but with everyone staring at him, he had no choice but to put down the sausage he had just eaten and go back to his room to get the quill pen.
Is this it?
George took it and started scribbling and drawing on Harry's notice... Soon, the paper was covered in ink stains.
"It's really convenient for doing homework."
George stroked his chin. Just like our Impervius badge, this quill pen should have Refilling Charm on it.
"The Refilling Charm?" Harry blinked, clearly hearing about this spell for the first time.
Are you guys discussing studying?
At that moment, Mr. Weasley sat down at the table and said to Harry with a smile, "I think I heard you asking about the Refilling Charm. It's a very useful spell, like this..."
He took out his wand and tapped Harry's cup. The Pumpkin Juice, which was only half full, suddenly began to rise and quickly became a full cup.
"Wow..." Harry gasped in surprise. "But... Professor McGonagall said magic can't conjure food..."
"It didn't conjure up..." Mr. Weasley explained, "It just transferred the Pumpkin Juice that was in the kitchen to your glass, saving you the trouble of going back and forth."
I bet... this curse must have been invented by an alcoholic."
Harry nodded, then looked at Fred and George, "Can you make this kind of quill pen?"
Fred was silent for a moment. "What did you just ask?"
"You can too..."
"No, that's not it. It's the question you asked us when we first came down."
Harry thought for a moment, then said uncertainly, "I haven't seen Kyle lately. Has he gone out again?"
"No, he's been reading in his room," Fred said calmly.
"He's always like this, you get used to it." George handed the quill back to Ron. "By the way, did you know? The Chudley Cannons actually beat the Vratsa Vultures this year."
"That's the third-ranked team... Could it be that the Chudley Cannons, which has always been at the bottom, is about to rise to prominence?"
Fred and George tacitly changed the subject.
Although Harry was puzzled, he quickly forgot about the quill after hearing about Quidditch and enthusiastically joined in.
"The Chudley Cannons won? How did you know!"
"It's Cedric, he went to watch the game..."
Meanwhile, Kyle was indeed in his room, but he wasn't reading.
Not needed for now...
Two days later, Kyle took the diary out of the box.
He stared at Riddle's name for a moment, then turned to the second blank page and casually copied the Transfiguration Spell notes onto it with a quill.
But before he could write much, the words began to fade, and eventually they were absorbed into the paper and disappeared without a trace.
Then, a new line of text inexplicably appeared on the blank paper, using the very ink he had just used.
[Hello, are you a student at Hogwarts?]
The words flickered for a few seconds, then disappeared.
Kyle's expression changed slightly. He picked up the quill pen again and hurriedly wrote a long passage on the paper:
"Who are you? Where are my notes? And why can you talk to me and know I'm a Hogwarts student? Is this some kind of Dark Magic artifact?"
The writing disappeared and didn't reappear for a long time.
[My name is Tom Riddle. I am not Dark Magic object, but a memory left in a diary. Like the Magical portrait in the castle, that's why I can speak to you in this way.]
[You just wrote down the precautions for turning stationary objects into animals. This is from the intermediate Transfiguration guide. You must be a third-year student.]
Kyle raised an eyebrow.
Tom Riddle seemed very patient, answering every single one of my questions thoroughly.
Kyle thought for a moment and wrote:
"I know those portraits, and I often talk to them... but this is the first time I've seen such a magical diary."
"You're right, I'll be in third grade after school starts."
Riddle responded very quickly this time.
[Are you still studying during the holidays? I bet you're a top student like me.]
"I've memorized all the books!" Kyle wrote quickly, his handwriting somewhat messy, "And I'm still number one in my grade."
[I knew I wouldn't be wrong; we should get along very well.]
Are you also ranked first in your grade?
[It always has.]
Riddle seemed eager to convince Kyle, and soon wrote again.
[Furthermore, I received Special Award for Services to the School in fifth grade; you can see my name in the Trophy Room.]
What's so great about that? I have one too, and I even have one more than you...
With that thought in mind, Kyle picked up his quill pen:
"Special Contribution Award... that's truly a remarkable achievement."
"Someone as outstanding as you must have received the Order of Merlin."
Seemingly surprised by Kyle's question, Riddle remained silent for a long time once again... until Kyle was getting impatient, and then new writing appeared on the paper.
[When I left this diary, there was no...]
[But I believe that if I wanted to, I could definitely get the Order of Merlin.]
Even from just words, Kyle could sense Riddle's confidence.
But what he said actually seems to be true.
