Where Has the Trust Between People Gone?
Surprisingly, the topic of Fantastic Beasts and Hogwarts seems to have really piqued the interest of the Nundu.
Especially when the part about Fluffy helping Dumbledore guard the Philosopher's Stone was mentioned, the Nundu even snorted disdainfully.
It didn't know what the Philosopher's Stone was, nor what Three-headed Dog was, but it didn't care.
It's just stopping others from entering that room; I could definitely do it better than those three-headed idiots.
We can just poison it more... As long as the entire castle is filled with poison, no one will be able to get in.
See how simple it is?
While the Nundu's attention was focused on Kyle, Newt came up behind it and began massaging its belly.
About ten minutes later, the Nundu and suddenly stood up.
Beneath it, however, lay a small Nundu covered in mucus.
As the little guy started moving around, the eggshell-like slime that covered it was quickly shaken aside.
The Nundu lowered its head and affectionately licked it with its tongue.
But perhaps because it was its first time doing this and it lacked experience, it used a little too much force, and the little guy's face was licked out of Transfiguration.
"Phew... finally done!" Kyle breathed a sigh of relief.
He'd been talking for so long, his throat was practically parched.
Kyle turned to look at Fawkes, who was looking for the pint of tears he had reserved.
The result was predictable: Fawkes swatted them back with a single wing strike.
"Stingy..." Kyle muttered as he stood up.
"Don't rush, it's not over yet."
Newt reminded him, "There should be one more."
Kyle then noticed that the Nundu's belly was still swollen.
About an hour later, after the third Nundu was successfully born, the process finally ended.
Newt wiped the sweat from his brow and waved in a direction not far away.
A much larger Nundu came running quickly, carrying a plump Tebo Warthog in its mouth.
"They're all healthy." Newt smiled and placed the little creature beside him, then quietly left with Kyle.
Unlike his initial resistance upon arrival, on the way back, Kyle would look back every few steps, his eyes filled with reluctance.
"No, Kyle!"
"I know what you're thinking, absolutely not."
Newt said seriously, "I agreed to let you take Norbert to school because I trust you can keep it under control and prevent it from escaping the box."
But the little Nundu are different; they can't control their venom yet. This is too dangerous, not just for you, but for everyone in the castle."
Even if others don't understand, doesn't he understand?
Kyle's look just now was exactly like Niffler seeing a gold coin; the meaning couldn't be clearer.
He definitely wants to take one of the smaller ones with him!
"I...I know..." Kyle scratched his head, "I was just thinking about it, I didn't really intend to do it."
He was well aware of how dangerous the Nundu was, and naturally, he would never bring them to the school.
Besides, the two larger ones are right there; even if he really wanted to, he couldn't take them away.
Even so, Newt still quickened his pace instinctively, as if he were carrying a time bomb.
By the time the two stepped out of the box, it was already slightly dawn.
They worked all night.
Kyle is alright; he often stays up late to go to the library and is used to it.
But Newt, who was already ninety-five years old, was different; as soon as he stepped out of the box, he showed obvious signs of fatigue.
But his eyes remained bright.
"Indeed, calling you here was the right thing to do."
Newt closed the suitcase and poured Kyle a cup of hot chocolate.
"Nundu usually only give birth to one or two cubs; a litter of three like this is extremely rare."
"Moreover, this would place a tremendous burden on them, and could even be life-threatening."
"Luckily, you distracted it, and the process went much more smoothly than I expected."
"No, no, I just talked for a bit, I didn't help that much," Kyle waved his hands repeatedly.
He's only thirteen years old and doesn't want to be labeled a "childbirth helper" for no reason.
But Newt just smiled and gave him a meaningful look.
"It's late, go to sleep. Oh, and you don't need to get up early for the station tomorrow. I'll take you back to Hogwarts. As for your luggage, Chris can take it over later."
"No need, I brought all my luggage," Kyle said.
Before coming here, in order not to arouse Fawkes's suspicion, he deliberately mixed the box containing the diary into his luggage and put it in the suitcase together.
Unexpectedly, this saved me a lot of trouble.
"That's perfect." Newt nodded and left.
However, after walking only a few steps, he suddenly stopped, turned around, picked up the box on the ground, and took it with him.
Kyle's smile vanished instantly.
That's going too far... It makes it sound like he might run into the box in the middle of the night.
It really is about trust between people!
Kyle pursed his lips, put the hot chocolate back on the table, and went back to his room to sleep.
He has a separate room here, which Newt and Tina specially prepared for him.
Because he didn't have to catch a train, Kyle slept until noon the next day.
Tina had already prepared lunch; the table was piled high with caramel potato pancakes and steaks.
"Is anyone else coming?" Kyle asked, puzzled.
This portion is far too much; even thirty people couldn't finish it, let alone three.
"Nobody's coming," Tina said with a smile, taking out a box. "You like potato pancakes, right? These are for you to take to school."
"The steak is for the Nundu," Newt said. "She needs a lot of food to recover her strength."
Kyle suddenly realized what was happening and immediately sat down at the table.
Tina added several pieces of steak to his plate, stacking them up like a brick.
Kyle didn't refuse; he'd only eaten one potato pancake since last night and was starving.
After finishing his meal, Newt took him to deliver food to the Nundu family.
The poisonous fog that had blanketed the grasslands had thinned considerably, but it remained deadly.
On that same rock... the three little creatures seemed to remember them, and weren't shy at all, circling around Kyle's feet and occasionally tugging at his pants.
The two adults snuggled on the rock, eating the steak Newt had brought while lazily watching Kyle help them take care of their babies.
It wasn't until the afternoon, when Kyle felt the train should be arriving at Hogwarts soon, that he reluctantly left.
Norbert and the Troll had secretly moved into Fawkes's box.
Dumbledore indeed very reliable; the space in his chest is now seemingly endless, many times larger than before.
Moreover, Dumbledore helped him complete part of the renovation work, turning what was originally just a few trees into a lush forest, making the lake much larger, and adding two hills nearby.
He even adjusted the climate, so that the area near the north side of the lake was covered with a thick layer of ice and snow.
