Signal
In his third week in the Dragon Sanctuary, Kyle had gradually gotten used to this life that was sometimes busy and sometimes leisurely.
More importantly, the harvest was very fruitful.
These days, he's earned enough from selling damaged and defective goods to make enough for two sets of Shield Gloves, a total of 125 Galleon.
But that's all there is to it...
At the end of the second week, the Dragon engaged in their most intense and longest battle.
This time, even Kyle couldn't stay idle. He joined Newt and Chris in treating three injured Dragon, more than the previous two times combined.
When it was all over, only the last two Dragon remained in the sky.
A Hungarian Horntail and a Ukrainian Ironbelly... not the one Kyle encountered before, this one is larger.
They rested for only one day before resuming their struggle for the highest cliff.
Most of the people gathered around, waiting for the final result.
In terms of size, the Ukrainian Ironbelly is clearly the more advantageous one... Charlie said it weighs about seven tons, and just sitting there, it's several times larger than the Hungarian Horntail, looking like an adult dragon carrying a child.
However, Charlie didn't think highly of it.
"Although both are Ukrainian Ironbelly and are similar in size, it lacks a bit of wisdom compared to old Pino."
If it was the last chance to win when everyone else was almost unable to fly, it just didn't seize it. Now...
Charlie shook his head. "Being large means consuming more energy. One day of rest is simply not enough. The Hungarian Horntail obviously knew this, which is why it launched its attack ahead of time."
"... It's too late."
And it turned out exactly as Charlie had said.
Just three hours later, the Ukrainian Ironbelly slowed down, swaying precariously in the air like a target.
The Hungarian Horntail, like a seasoned hunter, quickly gained the upper hand by utilizing its speed advantage.
Everyone could see that the outcome of this battle was already decided; it was just a matter of time.
"Hogwarts' school year is about to start, isn't it?" Feeling a bit bored, Professor Locknir walked up to Kyle and asked in a low voice, "Is it also in September?"
"September 1st," Kyle said. "Less than two weeks."
"If school starts again, you should be in fourth grade, right?"
"Yes." Kyle nodded.
"Interested in transferring to Beauxbatons?" Professor Locknir suddenly asked. "If it's you, I guarantee you'll have access to the best materials in your Alchemy Class."
Kyle looked at Professor Locknir, his head full of question marks.
Seriously, what kind of habit does Beauxbatons have? He tries to persuade people to transfer schools as soon as they meet them?
Their principal, Olympe Maxime, is like this, and so are the professors. What, is this part of their on-the-job training?
"I'm sorry, I don't have that idea at the moment."
After a moment of silence, Kyle shook his head and said, "Besides, the OWLs exams are next year, so it's not a good time to transfer schools now."
"It's nothing, it's nothing, I was just asking, you don't need to worry about it..."
Professor Locknir waved his hands repeatedly, then leaned close to Kyle and whispered, "Actually, it was Madame Maxime who asked me to ask... When I wrote to her a few days ago, I casually mentioned the situation here, and she seemed to really want you to transfer to Beauxbatons."
You two actually know each other?
To be honest, he was quite confused when Olympe Maxime asked him to poach someone from another company in the letter.
Although I feel it's a bit rude to do this, I have no choice because of the budget.
He wasn't just acquiring substandard products. He was also buying complete raw materials and dragon blood—those were the real prizes.
Although he didn't receive much each time, the three payments added up to nearly a thousand Galleon, which the school would definitely reimburse.
That's why he used the opportunity of reporting the situation to write to Madame Maxime, subtly reminding her to prepare the money as soon as possible.
Instead of the money being delivered, I was given the task of poaching talent from Hogwarts...
But in any case, he accomplished it.
"Madame Maxime?"
Kyle thought for a moment and said, "I saw her once in Paris during last year's holidays."
"Oh... no wonder."
Professor Locknir suddenly realized, "I remember she rarely left France; under normal circumstances, she shouldn't have known the young wizards at Hogwarts."
As the two spoke, the battle between the two Dragon drew to a close.
Unsurprisingly, the Hungarian Horntail won.
It stood on the cliff, roaring, spewing mushroom-shaped clouds of fire into the sky.
Dragon roars echoed continuously from all around... a gesture of submission.
"It's finally over." Charlie rubbed his forehead.
He hadn't had a proper rest for over a month. He hadn't been too stressed before, but now that he had suddenly relaxed, he felt like he'd been punched hard in the head, and it was incredibly uncomfortable.
Now I should be able to get a good rest for a few days.
Although he still has a lot to do, there's no rush, he can take it slow...
"Roar!"
Another dragon roar.
Unlike the previous sounds of submission, this roar was filled with anger.
Charlie was startled, then snapped back to reality.
Everyone turned to look in the direction of the sound...
It was an Australian Opaleye. Unlike the other Dragon, it wasn't lying on the ground; instead, it was flying in the air, angrily spewing dragonfire at the ground.
At the same time, a blinding red light exploded next to it, leaving a large spherical pattern in mid-air.
That's a signal unique to dragon breeders.
"Damn it... those cunning hyenas!"
Charlie quickly mounted his broom and flew off in that direction.
"Someone's eyeing the dragon eggs."
Seemingly noticing Kyle's confusion, Professor Locknir explained in a low voice, "That's a signal unique to the Dragon Sanctuary. Red indicates an unidentified intruder, and the sphere represents a dragon egg."
"Should we go help?" Kyle asked.
"No need, someone has already gone," Chris said, walking over and shaking his head.
"That's right," Lockneil said with a smile. "The reserve had anticipated this would happen, and since two weeks ago, there have been people guarding each nest of dragon eggs."
Furthermore, the dragon egg is protected by special magic; you can't use Apparition while holding it.
As they spoke, more and more dragon breeders arrived near the Australian Opaleye.
But a few minutes later, two more red lights exploded in the south, followed by two more in the north...
The signals were sent from seven different locations, all at great distances and in different directions.
"So many people, and all at the same time... it seems they planned this all along."
Chris was somewhat surprised, but his expression remained unchanged.
