Respect Every Wizard's Aesthetic
After leaving Flourish and Blotts, Kyle bought some other things before heading to the Magical Menagerie to find Harry and his friends.
Hermione had been saying she wanted to buy an owl, but in the end she bought a ginger, fat cat named Crookshanks.
To be honest, this cat is incredibly ugly. Its face looks like it was stepped on while it was sleeping; it's flat and shriveled.
In addition, its fur is very long, so when viewed from the side, you can hardly see any facial features; it's practically flat.
Perhaps wizards have different aesthetic tastes; to others it might just be a furry cardboard box, but Hermione loved it and thought it was prettier than any cat.
Well, to each their own...
Out of respect for everyone's different aesthetic tastes, Kyle didn't raise any objections, but simply nodded in agreement.
Harry next to him was the same.
As for Ron, he wasn't in the mood.
The shop assistants here didn't have a good solution for his rat either. After discovering that Ron didn't plan to get a new pet, they perfunctorily recommended a rat tonic to him.
Do you think this thing is useful?
On the way back, Ron held his mouse in one hand and the bottle of potion in the other, and said doubtfully, "I feel this is much worse than the tonic Kyle gave me before."
"I've removed the feeling," Kyle said. "This stuff is basically just sugar water with a little red amaranth flower juice. I can make a whole bucket of it in a minute. By the way, how much did you pay for it?"
"It's expensive..." Ron said with a bitter face, "Two whole Sickle!"
"You're making money really easily," Kyle shrugged. "You could make a profit even selling this for two Knut."
Ron's face darkened further.
Unfortunately, he had given Scabbers some medicine while they were in the store, so a refund was definitely out of the question.
Looking at the listless Scabbers, he asked, "Can I buy tonics from you in the future?"
"Of course, anytime, and it doesn't cost any money."
Kyle noticed that when Ron held Scabbers in his hands, the cat named Crookshanks only glanced lazily at the mouse before turning its persimmon-faced head away and continuing to wag its tail, looking completely uninterested.
When the group returned to the Leaky Cauldron, they found Mr. Weasley sitting at the bar reading the Daily Prophet.
"Harry, Kyle!" He looked up and said with a smile, "You're both here! How have you been these past few days?"
"Okay, thank you," Harry said.
"That's great." Kyle sat down next to him.
"I heard from Charlie that you were a great help." Mr. Weasley looked Kyle up and down. "It's good that you weren't hurt. Molly kept complaining that they shouldn't have let a child like you get involved in such dangerous things."
"It's not as dangerous as you might imagine."
Kyle laughed, "Besides, Mr. Scamander and my dad are here too. When the Dragon gets close, I just need to stand behind them."
"That's true."
"Wait, danger? Dragon?" Ron frowned. "What are you talking about? Kyle encountered Dragon in Romania?"
Hermione and Harry were also very curious.
"There's more than one..." Mr. Weasley gave a general overview of what he knew.
Anyway, things over there are over, so there's no need to keep it a secret any longer.
A chaotic battle between dozens of Dragon... Fantastic Beasts Masters from various countries... and the last poacher...
These experiences left them stunned.
Hermione had initially thought her trip to France was exciting enough, but compared to Kyle, it immediately seemed rather bland, even boring.
"A dozen or so Masters of Fantastic Beasts..." she exclaimed. "I wish I could go to Romania too."
"No way." Mr. Weasley put down the Daily Prophet and shook his head. "Back then, the protected area prohibited tourists from entering. Even if they went, it wouldn't have mattered. At most, they could just wander around the nearby settlements."
"Speaking of the settlement... I brought you gifts." Kyle opened the leather bag and took out something he had prepared in advance.
Mr. Weasley was given a dragonwood cane.
Last year at Flourish and Blotts, Mr. Weasley almost suffered because he lacked melee weapons, so Kyle specifically chose this one.
This wood is sturdy and heavy; in a fight, it can be used directly to smash an opponent's head, causing damage comparable to Stunning Spell.
"That's great!"
Mr. Weasley held his cane, waving it every now and then, clearly enjoying it.
Harry, Ron, Hermione all received Dragon Badge.
Made of dragon scales, the sculptures depict Dragon that can even move, making them one of the most representative souvenirs.
After thanking them, the group immediately put the gift on their robes.
Just then, Harry suddenly noticed that Sirius Black's picture in the newspaper was staring at him with wide eyes.
"Hasn't he been caught yet?"
"No." Mr. Weasley put down his cane, his expression turning serious. "The department has reassigned us all from our regular posts to focus all our efforts on capturing him, but so far there has been no progress."
"Is there a reward if we catch him?" Ron asked.
"Stop talking nonsense, Ron." Mr. Weasley looked very nervous. "Black couldn't possibly be captured by a thirteen-year-old wizard. Don't do anything foolish."
Just then, Mrs. Weasley walked into the bar carrying large bags and small packages, followed by Fred and George, Percy, who had just become Head Boy, and Ginny, the youngest child of the Weasley family.
"Hi, Kyle!"
"Haven't seen you for a long time!"
Fred and George went straight to Kyle as soon as they came in, shaking his hand vigorously. "Old man, it's so wonderful to see you."
"Incredible!"
Percy frowned.
"Enough, you two," said Mrs. Weasley. "Stop mimicking Percy."
She stepped forward and gave Kyle a happy hug.
"Honey, it's so good to see you."
"Me too, Mrs. Weasley," Kyle said.
"So, where's our gift?" At that moment, two hands reached out at the same time.
"What gift?" Kyle raised an eyebrow.
"Stop pretending." Fred said with a confident expression. "I noticed it the moment I walked in—Dad's cane."
"And Ron's badge," George said. "They didn't have any of these on them just now."
Kyle smiled and took out the gifts he had prepared for them, as well as gifts for Mrs. Weasley, Percy, and Ginny.
When he handed it to Percy, he was a little too formal, even shaking hands with Kyle in a perfunctory manner, saying, "Thank you so much, I'm honored."
His tone and demeanor were almost identical to those of the Romanian Ministry of Magic official who had given them the Portkey.
Fred and George stood beside him, mimicking his expressions and making all sorts of funny faces.
Mrs. Weasley gave them a dressing down.
That evening, the Weasley family did not return to the Burrow, but decided to spend the night at the Leaky Cauldron.
Mr. Weasley had wanted Kyle to stay there as well, but Kyle thought about it and declined.
"I saw Chris before I came," Mr. Weasley said. "He also agreed to let you stay here for the night."
"But I haven't packed my things yet," Kyle said. "There are a lot of things I need, including books and homework, that I haven't brought."
Kyle certainly didn't forget his homework; his luggage had been in his suitcase for the past two years.
He just didn't want to be watched.
Kyle noticed it earlier; there was someone in the corner who kept watching them.
A man at the bar was reading a newspaper for half an hour without turning a page.
And that old witch drinking mead, just a few minutes ago, in the same spot, with the same mead, but now a middle-aged witch was sitting there.
If he's not mistaken, these people are all Auror who came to protect Harry.
Mr. Weasley is included, except he has another task... to get Harry to King's Cross Station in a more reasonable way tomorrow.
Kyle didn't want to be stared at by so many Auror; the thought of it made him uncomfortable.
Because books and homework were mentioned, Mrs. Weasley didn't insist further, but she disagreed with Kyle going back on his own and insisted on waiting for Chris to come.
They waited all day.
Chris didn't return from the Ministry of Magic until they had finished dinner.
"What a pity, Arthur, I was hoping to have a drink with you," Chris said, pulling Kyle along. "There are just too many reports to write, and the department is in a hurry..."
"I understand," Mr. Weasley winked knowingly, "And I can't drink right now."
"Yes, that's definitely true..."
Chris sighed. "See you at the department tomorrow."
After saying that, he took Kyle and left the Leaky Cauldron.
