The Pendant Box in the Glass Cabinet
Tens of thousands of Galleon just flew away like that, Kyle felt a pang of heartache.
But there's no way around it; compared to all that gold, the Hufflepuff's Cup is still more important.
Like Ravenclaw's Diadem, the Hufflepuff's Cup is also something left behind by the Four Founders.
Voldemort, that spendthrift son, turned it into Horcrux and entrusted it to Bellatrix for safekeeping.
However, Bellatrix did not keep Voldemort's things in her own home like Lucius Malfoy did, but instead chose Gringotts, which she considered safer.
However, speaking of Horcrux... besides the Hufflepuff's Cup, which is still out of reach for the time being, there is another one that is closer, or even within reach.
This is also the main reason why Kyle agreed to come to 12 Grimmauld Place with Sirius.
As for the box, it was a complete surprise. In fact, Kyle never expected that the key to opening the box would be Sirius Black himself.
He originally intended to try a regular spell first, and if that didn't work, he would use Fiendfyre, or ask Nicolas Flamel for help next time he went to Devon.
Thinking of this, Kyle first glanced at Kreacher, who was still bound to the ground, then casually released the binding spell he had just cast, before turning to ask:
"Sirius, may I have a look around here?"
Kreacher was about to leave, stopped abruptly upon hearing this.
"That scoundrel brought home a Imp! Kreacher has never seen such an evil wizard. He wasn't satisfied with blowing up the drawing room; now he wants to blow up other places too. Kreacher must protect the mistress's house; no one can destroy it..."
"Shut up, Kreacher!" Sirius couldn't help but yell, "Nobody wants to destroy this place, and if anyone does, it's me!"
He then looked at Kyle, "There's nothing much to see here, but if you're interested, that's fine, just be careful not to wake up the portraits."
Also, it's best not to go alone to the second basement level or the third floor and above. Lupin and I haven't checked those areas yet, so we're not sure if they're safe."
"Don't touch that locked cabinet in the living room," Lupin suddenly said. "If I'm not mistaken, there should be a Boggart there."
He still hasn't forgotten how outrageous Kyle's treatment of Boggart was; if it happened again, this place might really be ruined.
Kyle smiled. Last time it was simply because he wasn't on guard, but now Boggart is no big deal to him.
However, he didn't explain anything, but simply took out his wand and restored the ruined reception room.
Sirius and Lupin also helped out.
With the three of them working together, the place was quickly restored to its original state.
Kreacher finally stopped muttering to himself, but still followed closely behind them, watching their every move.
"I was just about to ask that." As they walked down the hallway, Kyle looked at Sirius. "You bought a new wand?"
"Oh, you mean this?" Sirius raised his hand and waved the wand inlaid with gold and jewels. "Of course not. I'm still wanted by the authorities. How could I possibly go to Diagon Alley to buy a wand?"
"This is an old wand I found in the storage cabinet. It's not very good, but I don't have any other choice right now."
Accompanied by Sirius, Kyle toured the Entrance Hall and every room on the second floor.
The lights were dim, and their shadows were cast on the walls, almost blending into the darkness, making it look like the lair of some evil wizard.
"The first thing I did when I was cleaning the house was to throw all these lights away," Sirius said, frowning.
He hated dark places because Dementor always emerged from the darkness without warning.
If it's too dark around him, he always subconsciously recalls this unpleasant memory.
Upon hearing his words, Kreacher, who was following behind, started muttering again.
But this time Sirius didn't bother with him. In any case, all these old gas lamps had to be replaced before Harry moved in, and the room had to be brightly lit with no dark corners.
After walking around for a while, the group arrived at the second-floor living room.
This was a very large room, much larger than the reception room they had been in before.
Kyle found the cabinet Lupin had mentioned, right next to an armchair. It was probably originally meant to store some important documents, but now it was being used by a Boggart.
You could see the cabinet trembling slightly even from a distance.
Kyle wasn't interested in Boggart; he glanced at him and looked away. On the opposite wall, there was an even larger glass cabinet containing some strange and unusual items.
Kyle walked over.
"If I ever have to completely clean out the house, the first thing I'll throw away is everything in here."
Sirius stepped forward and said with a tone of disgust, "They're almost all Dark Magic items. They just love these things and display them like treasures..."
Kyle examined the glass case. In the center was an open, dusty box containing a Order of Merlin. Kyle also had one, but his ribbon was purple, while this one was green.
The Order of Merlin, First Class, was awarded to Sirius's grandfather in recognition of his "contributions to the Ministry of Magic".
"It means they were given a huge amount of gold," Sirius said dismissively. "Back then, a dark wizard had turned the Wizarding World upside down, and they needed gold to recruit more Auror."
"To get a first-class medal..." Kyle whispered, "The amount of gold must be enormous."
"I don't know the exact amount," Sirius said. "It's said that it was exchanged for half the gold in the vault, because he thought it would enhance the House of Black's honor and status."
"Half of the gold, that's quite a generous offer!" Kyle clicked his tongue in surprise and continued reading.
Next to the box was a silver snuffbox. Kyle poked it with his wand, and it immediately split in half, turning into a large mouth that bit at the wand while spraying out a grayish-brown powder.
This powder is similar to one of Zonko's's prank products; it forms an unsightly hard shell when it gets on your skin, but it's not very harmful and can be removed with a simple cleansing spell.
On the left is a particularly ugly silver object, resembling a spider with tweezers on its head, and it also moves like a spider.
As soon as the cabinet door was opened, it tried to run away, but Sirius smashed it to pieces with a thick book.
A music box with a bunch of distorted shadows painted on it probably isn't anything good.
A whole bunch of antique-style seals, that's quite normal.
And then... Kyle's heart suddenly skipped a beat.
He found it; in an inconspicuous corner, there was a golden Slytherin's Locket.
