The Performance to Clear the Stage
The two people standing on the small boat suddenly felt a cold wind blowing across their slightly flushed cheeks.
Yes, they don't need to go to the middle of the lake to get that fake Slytherin's Locket, so why would they take a boat?
Dumbledore reacted the fastest; he naturally lifted his foot and returned to the shore from the small boat.
"Oh, you can't live without sleep when you get old, your brain isn't working as well as it used to... But I think you'd like to see Voldemort's design, it's pretty much like that, all his usual methods, unchanged for decades."
"Yes, you're right," Kyle said with a smile.
Fawkes on his shoulder immediately turned his head away, seemingly quite interested in the bare rock face.
Sirius and Kreacher then realized what was happening and quickly followed him off the boat.
It's definitely faster here than going to the center of the lake, and you can leave more quickly after finding Regulus.
After everyone disembarked, the small boat returned to the lake and disappeared.
Sirius stood on the shore, looking at the calm lake surface, and said, "Do we need to touch the lake water to attract those monsters?"
Although he asked the question, he didn't seem to need an answer. As he spoke, he had already arrived at the lakeside and, just as Kreacher had described, put his hand into the icy water.
This action seemed to trigger some kind of switch; a white arm emerged from the lake, swiftly grabbed Sirius's arm, and forcefully dragged him into the water.
At the same time, the lake surface was no longer smooth as a mirror, but was violently churning, and white arms and heads emerged from the dark water everywhere, rushing towards the shore at an extremely fast speed.
"Release the young master!" Kreacher shouted, pointing his finger. As if using Knockback Jinx or something, the Inferi released Sirius and fell back into the water with a splash.
However, more Inferi had crawled out, gripping the slippery rocks with their withered hands, their empty eyes staring at Sirius.
Sirius quickly retreated to the shore, took out his wand, and carefully examined the face of each Inferi as he backed away. Only after confirming that it was not Regulus... would he use a spell to knock the Infernal back into the water.
Soon, six or seven Inferi were knocked down, but even more surged in.
Kyle and Dumbledore also stepped forward to help.
Dumbledore was the most relaxed of them all. He didn't need to chant any spells; he could simply wave his wand and send the monsters flying back into the water, never to climb out again.
For Dumbledore, dealing with someone who couldn't use magic was far too easy.
If he weren't worried about accidentally hurting Regulus, he would have had many more efficient methods.
Kyle was also constantly casting Petrification Spell, attacking those who clearly couldn't be Regulus.
Everyone had a clear division of labor: Sirius acted as bait in front, Kreacher was responsible for finding Regulus, and Kyle and Dumbledore provided spell support from behind. The three of them and the elf worked together seamlessly.
After using several more Petrification Spell, Kyle, seeing that the number of enemies showed no signs of decreasing, couldn't help but say, "If only I could use Fiendfyre to surround Sirius, I could guarantee that no matter how many of those guys came, they would all die."
Upon hearing Kyle's words, Dumbledore's hand holding the wand paused slightly, and the spells around Sirius also momentarily froze.
Although it was a short time, Sirius was still submerged. Those cold arms lifted him from the ground and carried him slowly but without hesitation toward the Black Lake.
"Disperse, all of you!"
Dumbledore waved his wand and rescued Sirius.
"Such a spell exists, but we can't use it now," he said softly. "The flames will make them instinctively retreat, making it even harder for us to find Regulus."
"Do you know how?" Kyle asked. "I can teach you..."
"No!" Dumbledore interrupted Kyle.
He paused for a moment before continuing, "The Fiendfyre is a high-level form of Dark Magic. Although I don't know how you learned it, I must tell you that this kind of Dark Magic is extremely dangerous and very difficult to control. Unless absolutely necessary, it's best never to use it."
If you're really interested, I can teach you another spell, a variation of the Fire-Making Spell, which is relatively safer."
"What is it...?"
"Young Master Regulus!"
Just as Kyle was about to ask, he heard an excited scream from Kreacher not far away.
Then, disregarding everything, he rushed towards the horde of zombies, trying to drag someone out, refusing to let go even as the person scratched and bit him.
Kyle glanced over instinctively. It was a very young man whose face had long since lost all color, turning ashen and gaunt. But everyone, including Kyle, could recognize him at a glance—it was Regulus.
Because of his appearance, he looks just like Sirius, who had just escaped from Azkaban.
Kreacher dragged Regulus to the rocks at the entrance, holding him and crying and shouting.
Everyone finally breathed a sigh of relief. Sirius's laughter echoed in the empty cave, as if he were being chased not by a terrifying monster, but by hundreds of adorable Mooncalf.
Dumbledore smiled and turned to Kyle, saying, "I was just wondering how to describe the spell's effects to you, but it seems I don't need to now. Come closer..."
Kyle nodded and immediately took a few steps forward.
Then Dumbledore raised his wand, and flames shot out from the tip of the wand.
The pitch-black cave was illuminated.
Bright, golden-red flames rolled around Dumbledore, following the turning of his wand like ocean waves, and continued to grow stronger.
A series of ear-piercing crackling sounds came from the surroundings, and the original cold and damp feeling vanished instantly, replaced by unbearable heat.
When Dumbledore extended his wand again, flames surged forth, coalescing into a massive golden-red tsunami that rushed forward.
In the blink of an eye, a wide, open road at least ten feet wide appeared in front of Kyle, with two walls of blazing fire stretching forward on either side, seemingly spanning the entire lake and stretching as far as the eye could see.
Kyle was completely dumbfounded.
He was initially considering whether to release Norbert to clear the area, but unexpectedly... Dumbledore's move was far more powerful than the Dragon.
Dumbledore put away his wand, looked at Kyle's expression, and nodded in satisfaction.
"So, have you made up your mind?" he asked with a smile. "Do you want to learn Fiendfyre, or this?"
"Professor, I want to learn this," Kyle said without hesitation.
Dumbledore more satisfied after receiving the answer.
That's right. What's the point of drawing a circle around yourself with the Fiendfyre? It's useless and a waste of time.
