"What three-headed dog? I have never raised Fluffy!"
Hagrid looked as if he had been electrocuted; he was so agitated that even the roots of his beard began to tremble. He pointed at Kyle and jumped, shouting, "How can you slander an innocent person out of thin air!"
"Oh~~" Kyle realized, "So it's named Fluffy. That's actually a pretty good name."
Hagrid's expression froze, and he hurriedly denied it, "I didn't... I didn't say anything, you heard wrong."
He didn't dare to admit it.
In all of Hogwarts, the thing he worried about most was Kyle discovering the existence of Fluffy, even more so than Dumbledore.
This was because Kyle's father, Chris, was the Deputy Head of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, and his job was to manage magical creatures of unknown origin like Fluffy.
If Kyle wrote home about this, Fluffy would definitely be taken away, and Hagrid wouldn't even know if it would live or die.
He himself might even be sent to Azkaban.
At the thought of Fluffy potentially being killed, and that hellish place called Azkaban, cold sweat instantly broke out on Hagrid.
"No, I absolutely cannot admit it."
Hagrid stiffened his face, putting on what he thought was a fierce expression, trying to scare Kyle away.
The fierce expression, combined with his massive, three-meter-tall frame, was, to be honest, quite convincing.
If one ignored Hagrid's shifty eyes and the cold sweat on his forehead, Kyle might have actually believed it.
"Fine, fine, I heard wrong, you aren't raising a three-headed dog." Kyle waved his hand, "Just consider it a piece of trivia. Goodbye."
"Oh, right." Kyle walked two steps, then suddenly turned back, "If the puppy you're raising shows signs of loss of appetite, irritability, or depression, don't worry, just let it loose in the Forbidden Forest."
Since Hagrid didn't want him to see Fluffy, he wouldn't look; there would be plenty of opportunities next year anyway.
Besides, what was the point of a small one? Wasn't a big one better?
Once Fluffy was locked in that room on the fourth floor, he could look at it whenever he wanted. By then, even if he pulled a tuft of fur off it to knit a pair of socks, it wouldn't be a problem.
After leaving the Forbidden Forest, Kyle strolled leisurely across the lawn. As he reached the castle entrance, he inadvertently caught a glimpse of a familiar figure flashing by.
Curious, Kyle walked over and discovered a small figure crouching in the bushes by the castle gate, poking their head out as if looking for something.
"Kanna? What are you doing here?" Kyle asked curiously.
"Who!"
The sudden voice startled Kanna, and it took her a moment to recover.
"I, I'm looking for something." Kanna looked up at Kyle, then continued rummaging through the bushes.
Seeing this, Kyle took out his wand and said, "How long will it take you to find it like this? Let me help."
Kanna seemed to guess his intention and immediately shook her head, "It won't work. I dropped Galleons, the Summoning Charm doesn't work on them."
Every piece of wizarding currency, whether it was a Galleon, a Sickle, or a Knut, had an anti-summoning charm on it, much like a watermark; it was the most basic anti-theft measure.
Hearing this, Kyle had no choice but to put away his wand and walk to the other side to help look.
Kanna actually didn't want to trouble Kyle, otherwise, she wouldn't have come here alone to look without telling anyone.
But thinking of her current predicament, she hesitated for a moment before whispering, "Th-thank you."
"It's nothing, we're friends, aren't we?" Kyle waved his hand dismissively, "By the way, how many Galleons did you drop?"
"Twenty."
Kyle thought he had misheard and subconsciously asked, "How many?!"
"Twenty," Kanna whispered, "Maybe even more. I've been losing Galleons since I started school, and these were the last ones."
"Uh..."
Kyle smacked his lips, lowered his head, and started digging through the bushes without another word.
Good heavens, losing over twenty Galleons at once—if that had happened to him, Kyle figured he might have felt like committing murder.
The patch of bushes at the castle entrance was not small, and it took the two of them over an hour to finish searching.
But the result was disappointing.
Let alone Galleons, they didn't even find a single Knut.
Kyle stood up, rubbing his lower back, and asked, "Are you sure you dropped them here?"
"I, I don't know."
Kanna was silent for a moment before saying, "They were still there before Herbology class yesterday, but they were suddenly gone this morning."
"Could you have dropped them during flying class?" Kyle thought for a moment, "Have you checked the Quidditch pitch?"
"I checked this morning," Kanna said. "They aren't at the Quidditch pitch or the castle, so if they aren't here, the only place left is the greenhouse."
"The greenhouse. They aren't there," Kyle said firmly.
He wouldn't dare speak for other places, but the greenhouse... Kyle could guarantee one hundred percent that no one had dropped anything there; the ground was spotless.
He had looked very carefully at the time.
"How about we look one more time?" Kyle suggested. "What if we just missed it earlier?"
"No need." Kanna shook her head.
She had never found the Galleons she dropped before, and this time would likely be the same. Just thinking about it, how could anyone ever find Galleons again after losing them?
"Alright then." Kyle didn't insist. In his view, someone from a pure-blood family like Kanna, who could afford Tuofan robes, basically never lacked Galleons.
She probably wouldn't care that much about twenty or thirty Galleons anyway.
He brushed the dirt off his clothes and said casually, "Before your owl arrives, do you need me to lend you some?"
Kanna's eyes glazed over for a moment, and after a brief silence, she said, "It's fine. You don't really need Galleons at Hogwarts. I'll just go to Gringotts to withdraw some after the holidays. It's just... could I pay you for the rat tonic after Christmas?"
Kyle's hand, which was brushing off his robe, paused slightly. He glanced at Kanna and said, "You don't need to worry about that. Even if you pay me next year, it's no problem."
Once Kyle had finished cleaning his robes, the two of them walked toward the castle together.
On the way, Kyle asked curiously, "By the way, where's your rat? How come I don't see you carrying it?"
"Pochi?" Mentioning her pet, Kanna revealed a rare smile. "She's playing with Darena's hamster in the dormitory."
"Since when do field mice and hamsters play together?" Kyle curled his lip. "I have a friend, Percy Weasley from Gryffindor, who also has a field mouse. I'll introduce them sometime.
By the way, is your Pochi a male or a female?"
Kanna's face flushed slightly, but she answered in a low voice, "Fe-female."
"That's perfect," Kyle's eyes lit up. "Percy's Scabbers is a male. Why don't we just pair them up? That way, there will be a whole litter of little rats next year."
