Using Regulations to Suppress People, Who Can't Do That
Kyle looked at Amelia Bones; of everyone present, she was the main interrogator, not the most boisterous Umbridge.
"I do not object to Mr. Malfoy's proposal, but only on the condition that I receive a formal letter of inquiry."
Kyle said, word by word, "The Prior Incantato is my bottom line; it's my explanation to the Ministry of Magic on behalf of the Hogwarts students. But after that, I will not accept any further inquiries unless you send a formal letter or produce new evidence."
"As for now, I demand an immediate end to this absurd and ridiculous interrogation."
"Let's vote by raising hands," Amelia Bones said in a loud voice. "Those who agree that the charges are unfounded, please raise your hands."
After she finished speaking, she was the first to raise her hand.
To be honest, she didn't approve of the interrogation in the first place, but there was nothing she could do, since Fudge was the minister and there was Umbridge stirring things up from the sidelines.
Then, more people, including Scrimgeour, raised their hands.
Like Amelia Bones, Scrimgeour also felt that the interrogation was a waste of time.
Kyle's whereabouts were too simple: school, home, and nowhere else. He really couldn't figure out how Kyle could hide from everyone and kill an adult wizard.
Many hands were raised; it was obvious without counting that it was more than half, but Amelia Bones continued:
"Those who support the charges, please raise your hands."
Umbridge immediately raised his hand, and five or six other colleagues did as well. Kyle scanned them one by one and memorized their faces.
Oh, Malfoy and his two companions also raised their hands... unfortunately, they don't have the right to vote.
"Very well," Amelia Bones said, "The charges are unfounded!"
"A wise choice," Professor McGonagall said with a smile.
"Don't be too happy yet."
Umbridge glared at Kyle, her face ashen. "You wanted to interrogate the letters, didn't you? You'll receive them soon enough. I hope you'll still be this confident when you come to the Ministry of Magic in seven days."
"I think you've misunderstood something. Everything is about first come, first served, Madam Umbridge."
Kyle laughed and said, "Before that, you need to explain today's behavior to Wizengamot, and the Wizengamot Trial Council will determine whether your testimony is reliable."
Then, Kyle put away his smile and said in a serious tone, "Ms. Amelia Bones, in my capacity as a recipient of the Order of Merlin, Second Class, I formally submit a ruling to Wizengamot regarding today's interrogation."
"Including the veracity of the testimonies, and Ms. Dolores Jane Umbridge's improper interrogation of me."
"On behalf of Wizengamot, I accept your application." Madam Bones nodded solemnly. "You will also need to prepare a written application and submit it to Wizengamot."
"No problem," Kyle said.
When Kyle mentioned only one person's name, everyone else breathed a sigh of relief, except for Umbridge seemed a little flustered.
"You cannot agree to this, Amelia Bones," she said, her face pale. "You can see that this is revenge, and I am the Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Magic; he has no right to interrogate me!"
"In fact, he does," Madam Bones said calmly. "As an honorary member of Wizengamot, he has the right to file for a ruling when the evidence is questionable."
"Furthermore, I reminded you before this interrogation began that this behavior is completely against regulations, and if you make a mistake, the consequences will be severe."
"I thought the Sirius Black incident would have made you more clear-headed, but it seems it hasn't."
After saying that, she got up and left the room.
Everyone else left their seats, and several members of the Wizengamot approached Kyle, first apologizing, then offering their help.
However, Kyle declined them all with a smile.
Before leaving the room, Kyle glanced at Umbridge one last time.
She was sitting there, repeatedly saying things like "I am a senior deputy minister."
Yes, Kyle was indeed seeking revenge, but what could she do? She was just using rules to pressure people; anyone can do that.
After leaving, Kyle, Professor McGonagall, and Chris headed towards the elevator.
Kyle noticed that Professor McGonagall's lips twitched slightly, as if she wanted to laugh but held it back.
"Professor McGonagall, are you going back now?" Chris asked.
"No, I have to tell Dumbledore what just happened," Professor McGonagall said. "This must never happen again."
When will Mr. Harry Potter's meeting end?
"It might be soon."
"Go sit at my desk for a while."
"No need, I'll wait here, so I don't miss it."
Just then, the elevator arrived.
When the iron gate opened, Dumbledore walked out, along with Harry and Mr. Weasley.
"Oh, Minerva, Kyle." Dumbledore came over. "Great, is your business finished over there too?"
Upon seeing him, Professor McGonagall's expression darkened again. "Come with me to Albus. I have something to tell you."
The two then went to another corridor.
"Kyle, I heard from Professor Dumbledore that you received a warning letter?" Harry leaned closer and asked, "What happened?"
He seemed to be in a good mood, so the accusations against him were probably unfounded.
Kyle thought for a moment and said, "It's nothing, just like you, using magic off-campus as a violation."
He didn't choose to tell Harry the truth, not because he wanted to deliberately hide it from him, but mainly because Harry was indeed a bit... well, let's just call him honest; he couldn't hide anything, either on his face or in his heart.
Besides, Harry knew the truth; after all, this was the Ministry of Magic, and it would be troublesome if he accidentally let something slip.
Not long after, Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall returned, and his expression turned extremely grim.
"Leave this to me, Kyle," he said. "If they don't want to let this go, I'll be there for them."
"Professor," Kyle said calmly, "I can do it myself; it's not that difficult."
Dumbledore's expression froze. He looked at Kyle, seemingly lost in thought, and after a moment said meaningfully, "You're still just a student, Kyle. Some things are better left to adults to handle."
"Alright then," Kyle shrugged, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.
He could tell that Dumbledore didn't seem to want him to be too involved in the matter.
But is that even possible?
Kyle isn't going to let this go so easily.
They've managed to outmaneuver him without any consequences, but what if they come up with an even more disgusting scheme next... like throwing a dark wizard directly into Ottery St. Catchpole?
Given their style, it's not impossible; Harry is the best example.
Kyle didn't want to spend all his time and energy dealing with this kind of thing. Wizengamot was just the first step, preventing them from causing him trouble in the short term, but that didn't mean the matter was over.
Voldemort is also a big problem.
Kyle certainly doesn't believe that Karkaroff and Malfoy were acting without anyone instigating them; otherwise, given their personalities, they would never have done something like this.
This was most likely Voldemort's request, and he was simply being targeted, unfortunately receiving the treatment that only Harry would receive.
The reason, of course, is simply because of Nagini.
As one of the Horcrux, Voldemort must have valued that snake highly, and would naturally try to take it back.
Dumbledore had said that Voldemort was badly injured that day, just like his hand, and it would take time to recover; he had spent the previous month recuperating.
With Kyle about to start school, he definitely won't sit still.
After all, once Kyle returns to Hogwarts, he will have even less chance of stealing the snake, unless he is willing to lead an attack on the school.
I still have two years until graduation, and it's really frustrating if Voldemort keeps doing this.
Since Voldemort cannot be killed directly, the only way to solve this problem is to approach the Ministry of Magic.
Kyle stroked his chin.
And I should also take some time to investigate the snake in the box.
Ever since he snatched Nagini, he'd just left the snake in the box and never touched it, not even knowing if Nicolas's potion would work on living things.
Kyle remembered that this snake seemed to be a wizard, but it turned into a snake for some special reason... I think it was some kind of curse called the Maledictus.
Therefore, if possible, he did not want to kill Nagini directly.
Kyle thought to himself.
Dumbledore standing nearby, seemed to sense something. He gave Kyle a deep look and reminded him again, "Remember this, Kyle, you are still a student."
"Of course, Professor," Kyle said, regaining his composure. "I've always known."
