I Want to Report Dumbledore
After an unknown amount of time, Umbridge's office gradually quieted down, with only the soft scratching of the quill pen tip across the parchment remaining.
Sunlight streamed into Umbridge's office through the window, landing on a thick stack of parchment on the desk.
Kyle wrote the sentences over and over again, adding ink several times along the way, and finally completed the requirement of five hundred repetitions by noon.
"I'm so tired..."
He rubbed his slightly sore wrists. The last time he wrote this many words was on the last day of Thanksgiving holiday last year, when he stayed up all night in his dorm to finish his Potions Class homework.
Kyle got up and went to Umbridge. An hour ago, she had been in so much pain that she couldn't speak, but she gritted her teeth and stared intently at Kyle.
Although the wound on the back of her hand had healed, the skin there was still red, like newly grown tender flesh.
"I'm done, Professor." Kyle showed the thick stack of parchment in his hand. "See, exactly five hundred times, no more, no less."
Umbridge remained silent, still glaring maliciously at Kyle.
She had figured it out: this was a school, Kyle wouldn't dare kill her, nor could he keep her locked up here indefinitely.
When the time comes... she'll definitely get her revenge tenfold.
"Professor, I bet you're thinking I wouldn't dare kill you," Kyle said with a smile. "You guessed right, I really wouldn't dare, after all, this is Hogwarts."
"However, whether you'll remember it by then is another matter entirely."
Kyle took out his wand and, to Umbridge's horror, pointed it at her head.
"What...what do you want! I am the Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Magic!" Umbridge shouted.
"I know, you already said that once," Kyle raised an eyebrow. "That's why I can't let you cause me trouble."
"A professor... who was also Professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts, taught me a very useful little trick that just happens to work out this situation."
"Oh, by the way, I think I made a mistake."
Kai pointed to the "Venomous Tentacula" around her.
"The characteristic of the Venomous Tentacula is the sharp, round thorns like needles, while these triangular, serrated thorns are characteristic of the Venomous Tentacula."
"This plant is only moderately toxic; it will only make you feel unwell for a short time. If you had just mustered the courage to rush out and pick up the magic wand on the ground, you might actually have been able to escape."
After all, I was focused on writing sentences the whole time and didn't pay attention to anything else.
"Venomous Tentacula... not Venomous Tentacula?" Umbridge was completely taken aback. "You're lying to me..."
"Obliviate!"
In an instant, Umbridge's previously malevolent gaze turned blank.
Taking advantage of this moment, Kyle waved his wand. The fragments on the ground pieced themselves back together, bouncing back onto the wall.
Even the overturned table and broken vase automatically returned to their original positions.
Kyle waved his wand again, touching the hinge on the door lock and the Muffliato.
Finally, Kyle quickly stuffed the Venomous Tentacula back into the box, and the office instantly Reparo, as if nothing had happened.
Oh, and I forgot the most important thing.
Kyle pointed his wand at Umbridge's hand, and the conspicuous red scar disappeared.
However, Kyle didn't heal the scar; wounds caused by such Dark Magic items aren't so easy to heal. He simply covered the scar with Transfiguration Spell.
With his current level of Transfiguration, he should be able to continue until the end of the semester without needing to use a counter-spell.
At that moment, Umbridge also woke up, her eyes filled with confusion as she looked at Kyle.
But the next second, doubt turned into anger.
"Get out! Why did you enter my office without knocking!"
"I'm sorry, Professor," Kyle said with a smile, "I knocked, but you seemed to be asleep and didn't hear me."
"I was asleep?" Umbridge asked, bewildered.
However, she did feel a little drowsy, as if she hadn't woken up properly.
Umbridge raised her hand to rub her forehead, but a sudden sharp pain on the back of her hand made her scream instinctively.
But when she looked down, she didn't find anything unusual.
"Professor, what's wrong?" Kyle asked.
"None of your business," Umbridge said instinctively, but immediately switched to her usual coquettish tone, "I mean, of course I'm fine... but you're late."
She walked to the armchair and sat down, glancing at the time. "Your detention time was supposed to be eight o'clock, but it's already been more than three hours, so the punishment needs to be doubled."
As she spoke, she rubbed the back of her hand again.
"That makes perfect sense, Professor," Kyle said, "But I think I must explain to you that there was a reason I did that in class."
"What's the reason?" Umbridge asked.
"I need to find an opportunity to speak with you alone, and confinement is a good excuse."
"Oh?" Umbridge looked at Kyle with interest and asked with a smile, "What do you want to talk to me about?"
"Dumbledore," Kyle said, "I've discovered he wants to run for Minister for Magic."
Umbridge jumped up from the chair with a start, but accidentally bumped her hand on the armrest, causing another sharp pain.
But at that moment, she couldn't care less about any of that.
"Don't joke around, you can't fool me."
She said casually, "Everyone knows that Dumbledore only wants to be the headmaster of Hogwarts. Don't think you can escape punishment with some excuse."
"That was before, Professor. People change," Kyle said. "You probably don't know this, but during the holidays, Dumbledore held a secret meeting at the Hog's Head Inn, and the purpose of the meeting was to have others nominate him to replace Cornelius Fudge as the new Minister for Magic."
Umbridge's expression gradually turned serious.
Of course she knew about this. With so many foreigners coming to England at the same time, how could it be kept from the Ministry of Magic? Fudge had always wanted to know what was said at the meeting, but no matter how the Auror and the Hit Wizard investigated, they could never get an answer.
One of the reasons she came to Hogwarts this time was to investigate the contents of that meeting.
She had originally intended to start with the professor, but unexpectedly... Kyle gave her a pleasant surprise.
"How did you know?" Umbridge asked.
"Because I participated too." Kyle said smugly. "Dumbledore."
"If that's the case, then why did you tell me?" Umbridge asked suspiciously.
"Because I think only Minister Cornelius Fudge is the best Minister for Magic," Kyle blurted out.
Umbridge stared intently at Kyle, then suddenly laughed after a long while:
"I won't be fooled by your clumsy tricks."
"Fine, don't believe me then." Kyle shrugged indifferently, turned and walked towards the door, saying as he went, "It's a pity. If Dumbledore Minister, I wonder how many people will be replaced. The Wizarding World can't afford that kind of upheaval..."
One step, two steps...
Just as Kyle opened the door and was about to leave the office, he suddenly heard Umbridge's voice behind him.
"Etc!"
She jogged over and slammed the door shut.
"Tell me the entire contents of the meeting, and I can exempt you from this confinement."
"I've said all I can say." Kyle shook his head. "As for more details, I'm sorry, I'll only tell Minister Fudge."
"You know, this is a huge achievement for me, as I want to work at the Ministry of Magic,"
For some reason, after hearing Kyle say that, the wariness in Umbridge's eyes instantly lessened by more than half, and turned into scrutiny.
Are you worried I'll steal your credit?
"I'm sure you wouldn't," Kyle said with a smile. "But consider this a gift from me to Minister Fudge. And since it's a gift, it should be delivered to the recipient in person, shouldn't it?"
"Besides, I'm only in sixth grade, and I still have two years before graduation. Even if I have made contributions, it won't matter... At most, they might offer me a tiny bit of insignificant help two years from now."
Umbridge's eyes lit up; she had almost forgotten that Kyle was still a student.
"If you dare to lie..."
"I just want to maintain stability in the Wizarding World, Professor," Kyle said.
"A wise choice," Umbridge said softly. "I will pass on your message to the Minister. If what you say is true, I guarantee you will get a job at the Ministry of Magic right after graduation, and in the best department at that. How about the Minister's Office?"
A flicker of excitement crossed Kyle's eyes, but it vanished in an instant.
Umbridge narrowed his eyes.
"Professor, my detention today..."
"Of course not," Umbridge said. "Consider it a reward for providing the clue."
Kyle walked out of the office, but soon returned.
Umbridge was sitting behind the table, seemingly preparing to write a letter, when she heard the noise and instinctively looked up.
"Kyle?"
Her voice held a warmth she'd never shown before, "Is there anything else?"
"There is indeed a small matter..."
"It's alright, please speak freely."
"That's right, you deducted twenty points from my score in class yesterday."
Kyle was a little embarrassed. "Although it may be a bit much to say this, you know that I have to do it this way so as not to arouse Dumbledore's suspicion."
"So, could we add those twenty points back...? It's only the beginning of the semester, and we Hufflepuff are already second to last."
"You're right, this is Hogwarts, we should indeed be more careful." Umbridge looked somewhat disappointed, but still nodded and said:
"It's perfectly normal to uphold the honor of your college, and your request is not excessive at all."
"So... for your honesty and courage, Hufflepuff gets twenty... no, fifty points."
