The Tense Atmosphere of the School Infirmary
In the Hospital Wing, Cedric and Kyle stared at each other, creating an awkward moment.
To be more precise, Cedric was embarrassed; if he weren't lying in a hospital bed, he probably would have already dug out a second Hogwarts Castle from the ground.
"That's good." Cedric turned his head to the other side and said, trying to appear calm.
Kyle coughed lightly and said earnestly, "Cedric, why would you want to challenge them to a duel? Don't forget we're Hufflepuff, Hogwarts's most well-known honest children and model students. This kind of thinking is very dangerous."
Think of Professor Sprout; she would be very disappointed if she knew you had become so impulsive, reckless, and unruly."
"No, I didn't think that," Cedric retorted angrily.
The main problem was that when he was brought here, he kept hearing people talking about going to find Slytherin members for one-on-one real man battles, and there were quite a few of them.
However, his legs and head were in too much pain at the time, and he was also a little confused. He wanted to persuade them not to act impulsively, but he couldn't say a word.
He had just thought about it again and subconsciously assumed that Kyle thought the same way.
"You don't need to explain, I understand."
Kyle didn't even look at Cedric, and continued, "After all, he was seriously injured. It's normal to say something in a fit of anger. Just remember to be more careful in the future. Here, have a Chocolate Frog."
Before the badgers left the Hospital Wing, they left some small gifts, mostly common snacks, which they probably planned to eat while watching the game.
Kyle picked out a Chocolate Frog, unwrapped it, and handed it over.
"I already said I didn't think that way. You... wait a minute."
Just as Cedric was about to explain, he suddenly noticed the Chocolate Frog Card in Kyle's hand.
"What are you holding in your hand...?"
Kyle put his hands in his pockets and calmly said, "It's just a regular card. Nicolas Flamel, I just happen to not have it."
"No." Cedric sat up. "I see it. It's not Nicolas Flamel, it's Agrippa."
Although it was just a fleeting glance, Cedric still noticed that the card in Kyle's hand was gold.
This is a special alchemical process that the Chocolate Frog Company commissioned a master alchemist to add to prevent card forgery.
With this layer of protection, those Gemino Curse or Summoning Charm are useless, and the effect is much better than the ones engraved on Galleon.
Only one card in the entire Chocolate Frog Card set uses this technique, and that is the rarest one Cornelius Agrippa.
Thinking of this, Cedric immediately held out his hand and said, "Give it back to me! That's the Chocolate Frog they gave me, and the card inside is mine too!"
Seeing that he couldn't get away with it, Kyle simply stopped pretending and said matter-of-factly, "But I was the one who dismantled it. If it were you, you'd probably only get a Dumbledore at most."
"It has nothing to do with who tore it down, it's still there, whoever tore it down is still Agrippa!" Cedric said angrily, "Give it back to me now, I only need this one to complete the set!"
"No way." Kyle clutched his pocket tightly. "This is all I need!"
Just like on the train, the two glared at each other, the air thick with tension.
However, Kyle clearly had the upper hand this time. He gave Cedric a provocative look, then walked to the entrance of the Hospital Wing, opened the door, and went out.
Then they came in again...
He went out, then came back in.
Cedric was stunned. He hadn't expected Kyle to be so unethical, trying to deceive and mock him, a patient with a broken leg.
"Okay, okay, enough joking around."
Seeing that Cedric was having trouble breathing, Kyle went back to the bedside and took out the Agrippa from his pocket.
"I really can't give this to you, I have a use for it." Kyle said with a serious face, "I have to say, Slytherin is really lucky. I was worried about what to do, but this card came at just the right time."
Slytherin?
Cedric calmly put down the shoe he was holding and asked suspiciously, "Is your plan related to this card?"
Kyle nodded.
"This is Agrippa!" Cedric muttered, his face full of heartache. "If I could get an Agrippa, I'd be willing to fall a few more times."
"It's just a card, look at you, so pathetic." Kyle gave him a disdainful look. "At the very least, this is about getting revenge for you, but at worst, it's about whether Hufflepuff can win the Quidditch Cup."
Is an Agrippa Quidditch Cup really more important?
"No, not at all..." Cedric said softly.
"That settles it then."
"That's one thing," Cedric said, glancing thoughtfully at Kyle.
He felt something was off; Kyle's expression was too serious, which was abnormal in itself.
Cedric seriously doubted that Kyle was fooling him, or that Kyle's original plan didn't even need that Agrippa card.
But he had no evidence.
"Why don't you just give Agrippa to me?" Cedric thought for a moment and said, "Even if it's just for one night, I'll have had her."
I'll give it to you after I'm discharged tomorrow, or we can work on that plan together."
"No need, leave the dirty work to me." Kyle patted his chest and said righteously, "Your task now is to focus on recovering from your injuries."
"..."
--It's confirmed, Kyle was just fooling him.
Cedric narrowed his eyes and reached out to pick up the shoe from the ground.
When he looked up again, Kyle had already run out of the Hospital Wing, and at the same time, Madam Pomfrey came over with a tray.
"What are you doing with your shoes?" Madam Pomfrey frowned. "It takes time for bones to heal; you'll have to stay here overnight."
"I'm sorry, Madam, I understand." Cedric forced a smile and put the shoe back in his hand.
"Honestly, all the young wizards these days are such a handful." Madam Pomfrey bandaged his right leg, then took out a Chocolate Frog Card and placed it on the hospital bed.
"I found this by your bed. Remember not to leave things lying around in the future."
Cedric's heart suddenly skipped a beat, and he looked over with a look of surprise and delight.
On the card, an elderly man with a white beard is looking at him kindly.
Cedric's initially passionate heart turned cold the moment he saw the old man.
"Nicolas Flamel, widely recognized as the most famous alchemist of his time, is best known for his contributions including..."
"Kyle!!"
Cedric gritted his teeth, staring at the direction of the Hospital Wing entrance, wishing he could rush out and beat someone up right then and there. But when he saw Madam Pomfrey not far away, that thought quickly faded away.
Unwilling to give up, he opened the remaining two Chocolate Frog, trying to find another Agrippa.
A minute later... Cedric sighed softly and stuffed the two Dumbledore under his pillow.
