Just as Kyle had said, Madam Pomfrey did not ask what had happened. Or perhaps she had been too frightened to think of it at first.
How should one put it? A professor being carried into the school hospital unconscious by students was a rare sight, even at Hogwarts.
Only after Kyle explained the reason did Madam Pomfrey finally breathe a sigh of relief.
And once she had calmed down, she noticed that Slughorn and Ron really were just unconscious, as Kyle had said.
"Dumbledore is always like this, bringing in more and more unreliable professors..." Madam Pomfrey could not help complaining. "He's clearly a Potions professor, yet he still managed to eat something laced with a Love Potion."
Kyle shrugged, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.
Madam Pomfrey was not wrong. Though Love Potions had no taste, they made the food's natural color brighter, as though it had been coated in wax. Anyone paying close attention would definitely notice.
And wizards who dealt with potions year-round ought to know that even better.
Kyle could not speak for anyone else, but he was certain Snape would never make such a basic mistake.
So Madam Pomfrey really was not wrong. Slughorn was indeed rather unreliable in certain respects.
After grumbling for a while, Madam Pomfrey had Kyle place Ron and Slughorn in separate beds.
The antidote to a Love Potion was not difficult to make. Madam Pomfrey took several bottles and jars from the shelf and poured the potions inside into two separate cups.
"Oh, no, there isn't enough Baruffio's Brain Elixir. You two, hurry and find Slughorn..." Madam Pomfrey glanced instinctively at the two men on the beds, then quickly corrected herself. "Hmm, go find Professor Snape. He should have some."
