Hufflepuff's Alternative Group Activity
After the dinner, everyone returned to their respective common lounges.
On the way, Cedric was still thinking about what had just happened.
"Tell me, why is Professor Snape so angry?" He rubbed his chin and muttered to himself, "Could someone have stolen something from his storeroom during the Christmas holidays?"
Snape had a private storeroom, which was no secret at Hogwarts; many students knew about it.
Moreover, there are rumors that his storeroom is filled with extremely rare Potions ingredients, and even the carpet is made of Dragon Hide. You could grab any item with your eyes closed and exchange it for a lot of Galleon in Diagon Alley.
Judging from Snape's demeanor just now, if his anger was truly related to that storage room, then quite a few things must have been stolen.
"Don't overthink it. Maybe he just received a Christmas present he didn't like." Kyle took out his wand and knocked on the wooden barrel in front of the common room door.
"That petty guy, he's never satisfied with a gift from someone else."
Cedric glanced at Kyle, his eyebrows slightly raised.
The passageway opened, and the two entered the common lounge together.
They were only a little late when the lounge was already full of people, hunched over wooden tables, frantically working on their holiday assignments.
Not only on the tables, but also on the floor, many people were lying there, and the number was still increasing.
In the huge lounge, there wasn't even a place to put your feet down.
Kyle was somewhat shocked.
Is this considered a Hufflepuff group activity? Would it be a bit odd if I didn't participate...?
But he already finished his homework; he can't possibly rewrite it.
"Don't be surprised, it was the same last year."
Cedric patted Kyle on the arm from behind and said, "Our Prefect once said that holiday time is precious and it's a waste to use it for homework."
The Prefect Cedric was referring to, Harris, the captain of the Quidditch team, was also part of the homework-catching army, and was currently bent over in a corner, writing furiously.
He originally had a table available, but just now, he gave it to some new students.
He deserves to be a Prefect.
Even the lounge has become like this; the library must be packed by now.
Kyle carefully avoided all the parchment and ink on the ground and cautiously approached the dormitory door.
Just as he was about to push the door open and go in, Cedric suddenly called out to him.
"Kyle ..." Cedric stood at the entrance of the second-year dormitory, looking at him from afar, and said, "I really like the Christmas present you gave me."
"Your gift was wonderful too!" Kyle replied.
The two then exchanged a glance and simultaneously gave a standard fake smile.
The first class after the start of the semester was Professor McGonagall's Transfiguration Class.
Less than five minutes into the lesson, Hufflepuff had already lost twenty points.
It is clear that their plan last night—"one pen, one lamp, one night, one miracle"—did not succeed.
Even Kyle was penalized two points.
The reason was that he lent his homework to Mikel and Ryan, but the two of them copied it verbatim, even including their names.
"If you lend your homework to them again next time... I'll deduct twenty points from your score!"
Professor McGonagall glared at Kyle before returning to the podium.
"The holiday is over, everyone should get back to work."
Today we're going to learn how to turn a mouse into a snuffbox, which is also the most important lesson this year. I can tell you in advance that it will definitely be on the final exam.
If you don't pass, don't blame me for not warning you...
Upon hearing that it was related to the final exams, the students quickly became serious, each looking intently at Professor McGonagall and taking detailed notes.
Final grades at Hogwarts are still very important. Take Fred and George for example, they don't need much; as long as they get two "O"s on their report cards, they can comfortably spend the whole summer vacation.
This is especially true for young wizards from Muggle families, whose parents don't understand magic and only care about grades.
If their final grades are too bad, they won't be able to explain it.
After class, those who hadn't finished their homework were kept behind by Professor McGonagall, while the others quickly left the classroom.
They still have homework for other subjects to finish, and time is very tight.
Kyle only had one class in the morning, and he had planned to go to the library to read for a while before lunch, but when he arrived, it was already packed with people.
The same situation applies to the lounge area.
Left with no other option, Kyle could only make do in the Great Hall for a while, pretending it was while waiting for dinner.
Lunch consisted of scones and fried pork chops, a combination Kyle quite liked. However, he had only taken a couple of bites when Mikel and Ryan showed up.
"Kyle, your Charms homework..."
"No, I won't lend it!" Kyle took a bite of his biscuit, glanced at them, and said, "I don't want to be called on by Professor Flitwick again."
"Don't worry, it definitely won't happen this time!"
Mikel raised his hand and said confidently, "We were just too tired last night. We'll definitely revise it and submit it today."
Kyle was highly skeptical of his words.
Last night, he lent all his homework to Mikel and Ryan, but they only managed to copy the Transfiguration Class homework.
Moreover, when the two returned to their dormitory, they were incredibly energetic and showed no signs of wanting to sleep.
Even before Kyle fell asleep, they were still playing Wizard's Chess with great enthusiasm.
With this past record, Kyle wouldn't dare to trust them so easily again; he didn't want to fall into the same trap twice.
Besides, there are less than two hours left before Charms class, and even copying would be too rushed. He guessed that Mikel's "modification" probably just meant changing the name.
After lunch, Mikel and Ryan still showed no sign of giving up, following closely behind Kyle.
Kyle managed to shake them off only after casting an Disillusionment Charm on himself.
As he watched his roommate brush past him, Kyle felt incredibly grateful that he had learned the Disillusionment Charm.
This spell is incredibly useful! Avada Kedavra, Expelliarmus, invisibility is the ultimate magic.
Praise the Disillusionment Charm.
Soon, Mikel and Ryan disappeared around the corner of the corridor.
Kyle knew he couldn't go back to the dorm, so he thought for a moment and decided to go straight to the Charms classroom. He just wanted to find a place to study, so it didn't matter where he was.
Moreover, the Charms classroom is undoubtedly much safer than other places.
Because Mikel and Ryan would never go near this place when they weren't in class.
