Just as Kyle had expected, Amelia Bones really did not trust anyone else to keep the Horcruxes safe.

And they moved quickly. Before the holiday had even ended, the letter had already arrived at Hogwarts.

Still in the Headmaster's Office, Kyle returned the letter to Professor McGonagall after reading it.

"What do you think?"

"Quite polite," Kyle said.

The letter had been addressed to Professor McGonagall, and its contents read like a conversation between two old friends. Though it mentioned the Horcruxes, it did so only in a few brief lines at the very end, casually asking whether Professor McGonagall needed the Ministry of Magic to help safeguard those items.

Of course, both Professor McGonagall and Kyle understood that this was the point of the letter. All the other pleasantries and greetings could have been left out.

"Mm. Now that you know what they want, in a few days, I'll reject her request on behalf of Hogwarts," Professor McGonagall said.

They definitely had to refuse.

He already knew that Slytherin's Locket, Ravenclaw's Diadem, and Hufflepuff's Cup were all in Kyle's possession, and all of them were intact. There was no way Kyle would hand them over to the Ministry of Magic.

The Resurrection Stone ring had vanished after Dumbledore's death.

As for that Runespoor, it had completely disappeared after the war ended as well. It had probably been reduced entirely to ashes.

The only thing they could have handed over, the diary, had already been presented during the last hearing. They had nothing to offer now, so naturally they had to refuse.

Professor McGonagall brought over a piece of parchment and prepared to write a reply.

"Why should we refuse? As righteous wizards, we should definitely cooperate with the Ministry of Magic and hand the Horcruxes over to them."
