Background / History

Huang Tianfang first approaches Hong Ming through a subordinate after Hong Ming becomes a Bright Force martial artist and squad leader. He offers one hundred taels of silver, a two-courtyard residence in Anping District, and control over the punished Huang Chun, presenting the offer as compensation for Huang Chun's unauthorized actions. His actual aim is to recruit and control Hong Ming as a weapon against the Han Family. 68

He is openly ambitious about the Martial Examination. Despite Uncle Fu judging a top-three placement assured, Huang Tianfang considers only first place acceptable. He initially dismisses Hong Ming's prospects, then becomes concerned after hearing that Hong Ming drew a ten-stone bow and began accumulating victories. 76 80 81

During the examination, Huang Tianfang arranges a number-plate exchange with Wang Heng to target Hong Ming. He is injured after becoming distracted during his fight with Zheng Song, but still wins by fully unleashing his strength. 81 82
