Background

When Yan Shaozhe discovered that Lu Heqiu's presence could suppress Ma Xiaotao's Evil Fire, he sought Xuan Zi's examination. Xuan Zi confirmed that Lu Heqiu was human rather than a transformed soul beast and identified an extraordinarily powerful, natural sealing force within the child. 6

Xuan Zi helped test the seal's effects by having Dai Yueheng and a Soul Sage release their Martial Souls. The results established that Lu Heqiu's overflowing suppression affected Soul Masters below Soul Sage, while those possessing a Martial Soul True Body were unaffected. 6

Though initially doubtful that Lu Heqiu could safely obtain an abnormally powerful first Soul Ring, Xuan Zi joined Yan Shaozhe and Ma Xiaotao in escorting him into the Star Dou Great Forest. Xuan Zi is blunt, irritable, and prone to harsh remarks, particularly when Lu Heqiu acts beyond conventional expectations. He repeatedly doubts the child's plans—such as choosing a hundred-thousand-year Soul Beast or absorbing a torso bone first—only to be proven wrong. 13 15

Despite his rough manner, he is strongly protective of Shrek Academy's students.
