Zoro's figure plummeted rapidly, landing steadily on the small boat carrying Luffy and Koby.
His arrival made the boat sway violently. Koby, who had been standing on the deck, hurriedly crouched down, pressing himself tightly against the planks and gripping the gunwale with both hands, terrified that he might be shaken overboard.
Luffy was also thrown off balance by the rocking boat. He swayed for a moment before barely regaining his footing, then complained to Zoro with lingering fear, "Hey! You bastard, what are you doing?!"
Luffy was a Devil Fruit user, and all Devil Fruit users sank like stones. If he accidentally fell into the sea, his life could be in danger.
Koby could swim, but with his skinny build, hauling a drowning Luffy out of the water would hardly be easy. Luffy understood that perfectly well.

"I'm a Pirate Hunter. What do you think I'm doing?"
"You, the 'Pirate King,' should be worth quite a bounty, right?"
Zoro cast Luffy a cold glance and swiftly removed the long sword from his waist. For some reason, he did not draw it from its sheath.

Their strength had been far inferior even to Kuina and Yamato's. During his time at sea, the life-and-death battles with pirates had given Zoro plenty of real combat experience, but that was the extent of his improvement.
