At Smoker's command, the New Marines drew the long swords at their waists and swarmed toward Carrot and Koby.

The ordinary soldiers left behind at Whole Cake Island's headquarters by the New Marines were generally the weaker members of their units. The stronger Marines had mostly been dispatched to other regions to hunt pirates.

The New Marines' deployment system differed greatly from that of Marine Headquarters. The Marines stationed at Marineford headquarters were often elites recruited from the Four Blues.

The New Marines were the opposite. Most of the ordinary Marines temporarily stationed at headquarters were young soldiers still in training. Only the commanders were elites among the New Marines, because only the finest commanders could train the finest subordinates.

Smoker stood at the outer edge of the formation, watching coldly as his subordinates surrounded Carrot and Koby.

However, compared to these rank-and-file New Marine soldiers, Carrot and Koby were clearly the more "elite" side.

The New Marines formed groups of three and attacked Carrot and Koby from different directions, blades drawn. When facing pirates, they no longer cared about distinctions between men and women. In fact, Carrot's seemingly slender build and her status as a woman made her the New Marines' primary target.
