Background / History

Becoming Ling Xiao’s Senior Sister

Hu Liena is already Martial Soul Hall’s Saintess and Bibi Dong’s sole personal disciple when she attends Ling Xiao’s awakening ceremony. After Bibi Dong accepts him as her second disciple, Hu Liena welcomes him affectionately and promises to protect him. The two study in the Pope Palace and live in neighboring halls 1 2.

Her welcome quickly turns into teasing: she takes his book, pinches his cheeks, and uses her superior cultivation and Charm skill to restrain him. Ling Xiao reports her to Bibi Dong, who orders an apology and threatens punishment in the Discipline Hall if she repeats the behavior. Hu Liena apologizes before their master but resumes taunting him outside 3.

Cultivation Rivalry

Ling Xiao’s rapid progress unsettles Hu Liena. She witnesses him begin soul-power cultivation in only fifteen minutes and later becomes fascinated by his first mental-control skill. Over the following year, she repeatedly checks his cultivation level and returns to seclusion whenever his progress threatens her lead. Bibi Dong encourages their rivalry by requiring weekly sparring sessions 4 9 15.

Initially, Hu Liena easily defeats Ling Xiao and Ling Xi together. Their improving coordination eventually reverses the outcome. She then challenges Ling Xiao alone, but their match ends in a draw despite her level-29 cultivation exceeding his level 19. Third Soul Ring Hunt

After reaching level 30, Hu Liena travels with Ling Xiao and Chrysanthemum Douluo Yue Guan toward the Star Dou Forest. Along the way, she eagerly explores towns and markets. At Falling Star Town, Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan disciples make degrading comments about her, prompting her to confront them. Ling Xiao defeats Yu Tianxin in the ensuing duel, and the offending disciples apologize 18 19 20 21 22.

Hu Liena subsequently guards Ling Xiao while he absorbs his second soul ring and warns Yu Tianxin against interfering. In the Mist Valley, Ling Xiao locates a Silver Moon Demon Fox, Yue Guan suppresses it, and Hu Liena kills it with a Fox Fire blade. Absorbing its ring brings her to level 31 and grants Demon Fox Transformation. She thanks both companions for protecting her and returns to report her success to Bibi Dong 25 27 28.

Remaining in Martial Soul City

Their sparring rivalry continues after the expedition, but Hu Liena increasingly loses to Ling Xiao despite retaining the higher cultivation rank. Each defeat sends her back into seclusion to improve 33.

When Ling Xiao arranges an outdoor training journey, she insists on joining him.
