"Gongming, what do we do?" Zhu Ling's face was full of worry.
"Zhang Fei is actually in Chang'an. It seems the news from Bing Province may not all be true." Xu Huang's head buzzed, and for a moment, he did not know how to respond.
Zhu Ling muttered to himself, "Even Governor Liang's memorial had problems. I heard there have been many rumors in Luoyang lately."
"Wenbo, don't let your imagination run wild. His Majesty recognizes Governor Liang's handwriting, and officials such as Lingjun Chen recognize it as well. The chances of the memorial being tampered with are slim. I just don't know why General Zhang spread false information." Xu Huang frowned tightly.
"Zhang Fei is known as a Ten Thousand Enemy, and his martial prowess is no less than General Guan's. Right now, our forces are evenly matched. What should we do?" Zhu Ling's expression was grim.
"Wenbo, go to the rear and take command. I'll go forward and test Zhang Fei's true strength. If it truly comes to it, we'll retreat to Tong Pass. We pose no threat to Chang'an now; bringing the troops back is what matters most." Xu Huang spoke sternly.
Zhu Ling nodded in agreement. "That is indeed the way. Gongming, remember not to force yourself."
"I know." Xu Huang had often been at the front lines and knew well the pressure Zhang Fei could exert. If they truly fought to the death, Zhang Fei was not someone to provoke.
During the struggle for Nanxiang, Liu Feng had once held Xu Huang in check. He had been capable of killing Wang Zhong, yet had not dared challenge Xu Huang. Now that he had joined forces with Zhang Fei, he obediently followed at his side.
The two armies arrived and spread into battle formations.
