Background / History

Xiao Wu attended Shrek Academy alongside Tang San and the other students. After returning from the Star Dou Great Forest, she still needed to acquire her Third Soul Ring; Zhao Wuji initially planned to take her and Tang San to a Soul Beast Forest for this purpose. 33 34

During a dangerous forest expedition, Xiao Wu was reluctant to leave without obtaining a Soul Ring, but ultimately placed Gu Yi's safety above that goal. Her concern for him earned Gu Yi 25% Affection through his system. 32

Gu Yi later privately revealed to Xiao Wu that he knew of her connection to Er Ming. He also told Zhu Zhuqing that Xiao Wu was a Soul Beast in human form and that he intended to resurrect her mother, A Rou. Xiao Wu chose to remain in Gu Yi's training group, despite Tang San urging her to return to the other group. 45 47

Ning Fengzhi and his allies attempted to seize Xiao Wu for her Soul Rings and Soul Bones. Gu Yi refused their offer, transported Xiao Wu and the sect representatives into his Endless Bone Domain, and negotiated for her life. 49 50

Gu Yi offered Xiao Wu a gamble: if successful, she would regain freedom and reunite with A Rou; if it failed, she would die and become a Soul Ring. Xiao Wu accepted and placed her trust in him. Using Saint Soul Grass, Gu Yi awakened A Rou's soul, allowing mother and daughter to reunite. 51

After Ning Rongrong's scheme placed Xiao Wu and Zhu Zhuqing in danger, Gu Yi decided Heaven Dou City was too dangerous for Xiao Wu. Xiao Wu suggested returning to the Star Dou Great Forest to wait for him, and Gu Yi eventually left her in Sunset Forest with protection against the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well's miasma. 64 67 68

A year later, Gu Yi found Xiao Wu living independently in a wooden house by a lake in Sunset Forest. Their reunion was initially awkward, but Xiao Wu listened to his experiences and received him warmly enough for his system to register 60% Affection. 98 99

Gu Yi subsequently resurrected A Rou's body using the Ten Thousand Year Grade Nine Ginseng King and a Spirit Beast Inner Core. Xiao Wu struggled between staying with her newly restored mother and following Gu Yi on further adventures. 99 100

When Tang San finally encountered her again, Xiao Wu avoided his embrace and made clear that she had left with Gu Yi willingly. She later chose to remain with Gu Yi rather than return to the Star Dou Great Forest. 105 106 108

Personality

Xiao Wu is deeply devoted to her mother and to Er Ming. Her willingness to trust Gu Yi stems from his promise to restore A Rou and his repeated efforts to protect her from those seeking her Soul Ring and Soul Bones. 45 50 51

Though initially fearful and uncertain, she grows increasingly independent. She refuses to let Tang San dictate her choices, chooses to stay with Gu Yi of her own will, and accepts the dangers of doing so. 47 105 108

She is emotionally conflicted over Gu Yi, Tang San, and Zhu Zhuqing. Her inability to activate the Acacia Heartbreak Red initially reflects these unresolved feelings, while her eventual success with the flower marks a firmer decision. 67 107 108
