Lu Chen looked at Blind Man and asked, "By the way, you came to see me so early. Is something the matter?"
Blind Man replied, "I heard that you were setting out for Jiaoguo this morning, Big Brother?"
"That's right." Lu Chen nodded.
Blind Man frowned, reached into his robe, and took out an object to hand over. He lowered his voice. "Take a look, Big Brother. Someone slipped this through the crack in the door this morning. I don't know who."
Lu Chen took it and saw that it was a letter. The envelope was blank. He pulled out the sheet inside. There was only one line of ink on it: "Don't go to Jiaoguo. It's a trap. Be careful."
Lu Chen furrowed his brow. "When was it slipped in?"
"Hard to say. We found it by the front gate this morning. Probably last night."
"Wasn't someone posted outside? They didn't see anything?"
"I asked. They all said they hadn't seen any strangers approach."
Lu Chen thought for a moment, then looked up and asked, "Could one of our own have done it?"
Blind Man nodded at that.
"That's possible. But why do it this way? Sneak in a letter so you won't go to Jiaoguo... Could there really be some terrible danger waiting there? Did whoever wrote this learn something they can't tell us outright?"
"I've been wondering the same thing." Lu Chen pondered. "If Jiaoguo really is a trap, is it aimed at everyone going to capture them, or just at me, Lu Chen?"
Just then, a thought stirred in his mind, and the scene from Wind Lotus Courtyard the previous night came back to him.
There had been a faint sound on the roof, as though someone were hiding in the dark, listening to what was
