Background

Secret Cultivator first became known through a forum post visible only to people who had entered the Ancient Earth. The post warned World of Weirdness players not to continue after exhausting their resurrection count, use game items recklessly in reality, or speak hidden existences’ complete honorific names; it also provided a group number for prospective contacts. 6

She operates the Secret Cultivator Society as a small communication and trading platform rather than an organization that owes protection or loyalty to its members. The Society’s rules prohibit exposing member information, harming the Society, falsifying intelligence trades, or leaking information gained within it; the code further claims to be witnessed by the King of Oaths and gives Secret Cultivator final interpretive authority. 28

The Society monetizes information exchanges. Secret Cultivator can open and observe private trade rooms, safeguard item trades in exchange for Old Offerings, assign optional tasks, and host mandatory weekly online gatherings where she answers one question per member if she knows the answer. 28

After Yang Qizhou joined under the name “Honey Pot,” Secret Cultivator became preoccupied with his concealed identity. The Mirror of Attilus failed to reveal him, and even an external records search produced no usable information. Believing this concealment resembled a nascent Authority, she chose to retain Honey Pot in the Society so she could monitor him rather than expel him. 29 30

Her concern increased when Honey Pot demonstrated unusually rapid game progress by trading information obtained from a cult leader. Secret Cultivator privately encouraged Cheetah to reveal additional information during the exchange, apparently seeking to cultivate Honey Pot’s goodwill. 36

During the Diamond Building incident, she made an exceptional credit-based information exchange with Honey Pot. She explained that chanting a deity’s complete honorific name in reality can draw a sound deity’s gaze, or potentially help create a successor deity from a highly vitalized Old Day Item belonging to a fallen one. 49 50
