After leaving Sword Evolution City, Xu Xing and Charm Ancestor first returned to the Sword Sect.

Since they were going to Qingxu, Charm Ancestor said they should at least let Bie Xuening know. They could not leave without a word.

Halfway up the peak where Sword Venerable Hall stood, a lush forest of emerald bamboo spread out before them. The bamboo stalks gleamed like jade, while the blue-green leaves rustled softly in the wind.

Shadows of bamboo swayed gracefully as a narrow path paved with blue bricks wound deeper inside.

"If we don't tell the Sword Venerable, she'll think I've run off with you," Charm Ancestor explained solemnly.

That was right—coming back to inform Bie Xuening.

She had been the one to suggest it.

Xu Xing did not say much.

It was obvious she had reached some sort of agreement with Senior Sister beforehand.

He just did not know what exactly they had discussed in that little group of theirs...

They followed the blue-brick path into the bamboo grove. Just as the corner of a bamboo house entered their sight—

A strand of violent, murderous sword light tore through the air, stabbing straight for Charm Ancestor's heart.

With a nimble twist, Charm Ancestor let the streak of murderous sword light graze past her front. It flew onward for some distance before gradually fading away.

Having dodged the strike, she raised a brow and looked toward Bie Xuening, who stood beside the pond.

"You're being far too rude!"

Bie Xuening was unconcerned as she slowly lowered her hand.

"Your reaction was rather quick."

"I think you're just jealous of me!"

"Hm?"

Before she could react, Charm Ancestor puffed out her chest.
