Nature
The Warp is a bizarre, surreal realm described as a constantly shifting mass of energy swept by unending energy storms. It is separate from the material universe but can influence it through psychic phenomena, corruption, daemonic manifestations, and rifts into realspace. 1 100
It is dominated by the Four Chaos Gods—Nurgle, Tzeentch, Khorne, and Slaanesh—whose emotional energy is dangerous for the newborn Dark God Lu Sheng to absorb directly. 1
Emotional Energy
Emotional fluctuations are a source of sustenance within the Warp. Lu Sheng's Super Calamity System filters players' anger, greed, excitement, fear, frustration, and other emotions before sending the purified energy to him. 1 13
- The system disguises harvested player emotions as naturally dissipating Warp background noise, preventing the Four Chaos Gods from detecting the process at small scales. 1
- Player fear and despair during their imprisonment in Arlu City's containment facility rapidly replenished Lu Sheng's energy reserves. 13
- Direct exposure to the Four Gods' corrupted emotional energy is treated as hazardous. 1
Psychic Resonance
Powerful psykers are visible within the Warp as psychic lights that attract Chaos entities and daemons. 63
- Helowei's uncontrolled S-Class psychic eruption appeared like a newborn star from the Warp's perspective. 63
- Lu Sheng identified the pulse as pure, uncorrupted human psychic potential and deployed a Warp shielding field to hide her from predatory Warp entities. 63
- Psyker arrays can stabilize realspace boundaries weakened by Warp influence. 94
Reality Distortion
Warp entities can disrupt physical laws, machinery, movement, and perception.
- Tzeentch daemons created a spatial-distortion field that reduced vehicle movement, distorted sound and light, and caused tank shells to miss their targets. 31
- The Rage Slaughterer's Warp interference exceeded a Knight mech's machine spirit tolerance by 400%, destabilizing its systems. 96
- The Lord of Change and Mystery could use knowledge-based attacks to alter matter, turning a Knight mech and its pilot into silvery-gray liquid. 95
Warp Rifts and Contamination
Warp rifts are breaches between realspace and the Warp. They permit daemonic incursions, leak corruptive energy, and can transform surrounding areas into contaminated zones. 36 100

|---|---|---|
| Lu Sheng establishes a realspace connection | 1 | The Super Calamity System establishes a stable connection to Aurelian IV, allowing player consciousnesses to enter generated bodies in the material universe. |
| Tzeentch ritual begins forming a rift | 25 | Players discover a ritual pattern and a gradually forming Warp rift during the refinery uprising. |
| Industrial Zone No. 3 falls | 36 | The completed summoning unleashes a daemonic legion; the industrial zone becomes a Warp-eroded forbidden zone infested with daemons. |
| Helowei is concealed | 63 | Lu Sheng activates a Warp shielding field to prevent her psychic presence from attracting Chaos Gods and wandering daemons. |
| Escape rift is forcibly closed | 98 | The Lord of Change attempts to open a rift back into the deep Warp, but three hundred shipborne lascannon beams stabilize space and seal it before completion. |
| District 7 rift is investigated | 100 | The Iron Hands identify an older rift created by the Arar Family's incomplete ritual eighty years earlier; its stability is measured at 37%. |
District 7 Rift
The rift beneath Industrial District 7 originated from the Arar Family's attempt to use the life energy of five million residents to summon an entity called Father's Dream. Imperial orbital bombardment interrupted the ritual, but failed to close the rift completely. 100
- The rift remained dormant for eighty years before an outside force reactivated it. 100
- Its contamination spread rate is estimated at 0.3 kilometers per day, with natural closure projected to take 942 years. 100
- Proposed containment methods include heavy melta bombs, a psyker sealing array, or an Adeptus Mechanicus sacred-device seal. 100
Countermeasures
- Psychic-dampening artillery shells — Experimental Basilisk shells infused with psychic stabilizers and dampening dust are intended to disrupt Warp-energy structures. 35
- Psyker arrays — Linked psykers can weaken daemons and stabilize the torn boundary between realspace and the Warp. 94
- Saturation lascannon fire — The Iron Hands fleet uses concentrated shipborne lascannons to overload and stabilize a forming Warp rift. 98
- Primarch-level force — Ferrus Manus's Forgebreaker destroys the manifested forms of the Rage Slaughterer and the Lord of Change and Mystery, banishing both back to the Warp. 98
Associated Entities
- Lu Sheng — A newborn Dark God who drifts within the Warp and sustains himself on purified player emotions through the Super Calamity System. 1 13
- Four Chaos Gods — The dominant powers of the Warp: Nurgle, Tzeentch, Khorne, and Slaanesh. 1
- Lord of Change and Mystery — A Tzeentch daemon that emerges through the Industrial Zone No. 3 breach and later attempts to flee through a newly created rift. 27 98
- Rage Slaughterer — A powerful Khorne daemon whose Warp interference disrupts Knight mechs and machine spirits. 94 96
- Helowei — A young psyker whose pure S-Class psychic signature draws attention from the Warp. 63
