Regarding the situation in Shishinohana Forest, the TPC Far East Headquarters finally decided to dispatch a team to recover the remains.
This was the wish of the majority, and as the only person who had entered Shishinohana Forest and successfully come back out, Zhou Hong was also arranged to join, thanks to Shinjoh's jinxing mouth.
A dense crowd of people arrived, carrying all sorts of equipment that would barely tickle a monster; the only things capable of posing a real threat were the two high-tech DeLaM Cars of GUTS.
However, seeing Daigo following at the back of the formation on his motorcycle, Zhou Hong felt much more at ease.
Although the number of people was quite large, as an elite TPC force, the sound produced by their march was exceptionally minimal.
Lingering on the side of the road, this was likely its final act of stubbornness.
The journey was smooth and uneventful until they reached the location where the cars were piled up. With GUTS and the Rookie Squad securing the perimeter, the medical unit began the recovery and documentation process.
And securing the perimeter inevitably led to idle chatter.
"This place is very quiet, and the air is quite fresh," Hori took a deep breath of the freezing cold air and shivered, "it's just a little too cold."
"Senior Hori, I think this place is quite good. Training in the cold can not only strengthen the body but also temper the will."
Hibiki Gousuke also offered his thoughts, though his disobedient legs were trembling constantly; even after he hammered them, they remained the same.
"Forget it, you're already frozen into a blockhead, what kind of training is that?" Zhou Hong retorted.
"I don't like this place. It's so quiet, who knows what kind of things are hiding underground," Shinjoh said with a grimace, observing his surroundings.
Just as his words fell, a familiar female scream suddenly came from behind him.
"Mayumi!" In that instant, Shinjoh seemed to enter a Super Saiyan mode; his eyes burned with raging flames, and with a flash of his body, he sprinted far away.
Without any warning, the others quickly turned around and dashed toward the recovery site.
In the blink of an eye, the short distance was covered by Shinjoh, and the scene that met his eyes made the flames in his gaze seem ready to burst forth.
The ground had cracked open, and fleshy tentacles emerged from within, wrapping around Mayumi and another nurse. Mayumi was being dragged across the ground, her pure white nurse uniform stained a muddy brown, looking extremely disheveled.
Shinjoh immediately pulled the trigger of the Hyper Gun gripped in his hand. The fired laser precisely struck the blackened area that had been under constant attack by the ground support troops, actually severing those slender tentacles.
Without stopping for a second, he rushed to Mayumi's side and quickly checked if she was injured, asking incessantly, "Are you alright, Mayumi?"
"I'm fine, brother. Go check on Huihui," Mayumi pushed Shinjoh away, gesturing toward the other nurse.
A helpless Shinjoh had no choice but to shift his concern to Mayumi's colleague, whose face turned slightly red, her gaze shifting away from time to time.
"Shinjoh, take the wounded and prepare to evacuate immediately. We cannot stay here for long," Munakata commanded as soon as he arrived.
Carrying the young woman, Shinjoh's evacuation speed was exceptionally fast, and the convoy started up immediately; everything seemed so methodical.
But when the DeLaM Car crashed into an invisible wall, causing a series of rear-end collisions, things took a turn for the worse.
Whether it was the beams from the Hyper Guns or the weapons on the DeLaM Cars, the attacks hitting this wall were like a drop of water in the ocean—not even a ripple was seen.
"Hori! Think of something!"
"The analysis report on the wall is out. It contains substances that don't belong to Earth."
"I don't have any materials on hand that can affect this wall. I can't do anything!" Hori responded to Munakata in despair.
Without a systematic laboratory and with a scarcity of various materials, Hori had no way to get started.
Meanwhile, the Rookie Squad, acting like a bunch of reckless brawlers, could only punch and kick the wall, with one particular muscular man hitting it the hardest.
He struck the wall until it echoed with a "thud-thud" sound.
The ground suddenly began to tremble as they launched their attacks.
This familiar vibration made a thought immediately pop into the minds of the battle-hardened GUTS members: "A monster has appeared."
The soil churned and the earth was torn apart. First to emerge from the surface was a curved horn, and after a short while, the monster stood within the forest.
If one had to point out its most distinctive feature, it would be those massive arms.
There were only two sharp claws on each arm, and between those claws existed the very tentacles that had just been attacked.
It let out a roar that carried no intimidation at all, then locked its gaze onto the massive convoy.
Even though it stepped on the ground with one foot, two distinct sounds echoed out.
This caused Gagi to turn its body in confusion. What entered its sight was a silver monster with clear scars on its head.
Within those pupil-less eyes, Gagi clearly felt a sense of rage.
"Another monster!" someone shouted in despair.
Zhou Hong's expression, however, became increasingly strange; he sighed slightly for this Gagi for a few seconds.
Relying on the protection of its barrier, Gagi roared at Silvagon without the slightest fear, only to watch as its pride-and-joy barrier was torn into shreds by the enraged Silvagon in a matter of seconds.
With its thick, short legs, it kicked the barrier at that position into pieces and charged straight toward the Gagi, which was writhing its whips.
I accepted being beaten yesterday because I couldn't win, but today, there's another beast acting so wildly on my turf? This is absolutely intolerable!
Driven by Silvagon's immense strength, its claws easily left deep wounds on Gagi's body.
The pain stimulated Gagi into a frenzy, and it used its whips to entangle the nearby Silvagon, attempting to strangle it to death.
Silvagon didn't defend at all, allowing Gagi to attack, but the defense provided by its thick muscles meant the damage Gagi inflicted was almost zero.
Sharp claws plunged fiercely into Gagi's body, pulling its head toward him.
With its blood-red maw wide open, the immense bite force drove sharp teeth deep into Gagi's throat; after a few moments of feeble struggling, Gagi's eyes gradually lost their luster.
Silvagon beat his chest in excitement, flaunting his strength, and flicked his tail happily, but through his blurred vision, he suddenly caught sight of a figure walking about, waving their arms and pointing in his direction.
His tail suddenly stiffened, and Silvagon turned and fled back the way he came without a second glance, even tripping over his own short legs, which only made him scramble away faster.
The convoy members were speechless for a moment, all wearing expressions of utter daze.
There will be another chapter around 10 o'clock.
