Background / History

Conis lived on Skypiea, where she initially regarded Enel as a true god. Lu Zhuo and his companions intimidated her into guiding them toward Upper Yard; despite her fear, she questioned whether he was truly a god and proved unaffected by his developing Sword Intent. Lu Zhuo considered her courage and desire for freedom the reasons to recruit her. 22

After Lu Zhuo’s battle with Enel ended in a draw, he declared Conis his companion. Nami subsequently took her under her wing, helping her adjust to life aboard the Holy Sword. 25 26

Conis became more comfortable with Lu Zhuo over time, piloting a Waver to help him search for another Kitetsu sword. During Lu Zhuo’s confrontation with Bartholomew Kuma, she retreated when signaled and later helped the severely injured captain back to the ship. 27 28 29

After the crew descended to the Blue Sea, Conis struggled with its unfamiliarity but continued traveling with them. When Lu Zhuo was disturbed after killing Ain, Conis used her music to comfort him, prompting him to recognize that he had treated her too indifferently. 32 43

Lu Zhuo proposed to Conis at Water 7, and she accepted after expressing concern for Nami and Robin’s feelings. 44 CP9 later abducted Conis to force Nico Robin’s surrender. Though released at Enies Lobby under their agreement with Robin, Conis blamed herself for being unable to help and broke down upon reuniting with Lu Zhuo. 45 46
