Land of Fire.
Konoha Ninja Village.
"Huff, huff, I'm exhausted."
Accompanied by heavy gasps, Feng Yao, having drained his chakra, collapsed onto the ground in exhaustion. Sweat soaked his back; he had just been practicing the E-rank Clone Technique in preparation for the Konoha Ninja Academy graduation exam. As of now, he could successfully manifest three clones.
Feng Yao was not a native of the Naruto world; he had transmigrated from Earth due to an accident. Back on Earth, he had been nothing more than an ordinary office worker in his twenties.
Having grown up in China, he found it difficult to integrate into this world after arriving. Fortunately, he had transmigrated at a young age, so no one could spot his flaws.
As a transmigrator, he was a die-hard fan of the Naruto anime and knew the main plot points by heart, but unlike other transmigrators, he faced a unique predicament.
He had not transmigrated into any of the major clans like the Uzumaki, Hyuga, Uchiha, or Senju, a fact that left Feng Yao feeling deeply frustrated.
After all, in the Naruto world, techniques like the Sharingan, Byakugan, and Sealing Technique could only be mastered within major clans like the Uchiha or Hyuga.
Even one's chakra capacity was closely tied to one's lineage; for instance, the Uzumaki Clan was born with far more chakra than others.
He had been born into a very ordinary family. His father was a Chunin, and his mother was a civilian. He possessed neither a powerful Kekkei Genkai nor a formidable Sharingan. With a face that blended into the crowd, he was clearly destined to be cannon fodder.
Although Feng Yao knew many secrets of the Naruto world, he lacked the strength to act on them. If he were to expose these secrets, he would likely be silenced by the next day. Such was the sorrow of the weak.
What man does not dream? Feng Yao naturally wanted to make a name for himself in the ninja world, but if he struggled even with basic E-rank techniques, how could he ever hope to punch the Uchiha or kick the Otsutsuki?
Fortunately, diligence can compensate for a lack of talent. Feng Yao was one of the hardest-working students at the Ninja Academy. After all, if he really ended up as a mere Genin in this world, he would be too embarrassed to call himself a transmigrator.
Clone Technique.
Escape Technique.
Substitution Technique.
Transformation Technique.
These were all the ninjutsu Feng Yao had mastered so far. That's right, just these few. When he watched the anime, he thought it was as simple as forming a few hand seals and shouting the name of the technique to release it.
But reality was cruel. Ninjutsu was incredibly difficult to learn. First, one had to refine chakra. Second, one had to master the hand seals and the precise ratio of chakra manipulation.
Feng Yao was twelve years old, yet he had only mastered these few E-rank techniques. However, he had firmly grasped the foundational knowledge of the academy. As for his ninjutsu, while not powerful, it was at least enough to pass graduation.
Silently thinking that he would have to find a teacher to learn more advanced ninjutsu after graduation and team assignments, he rolled over, climbed to his feet, and headed toward the Ninja Academy.
"Naruto, you little brat, stop right there!"
"Hahaha, you guys are so annoying!"
"To think you'd do something so heaven-defying."
Several figures darted rapidly across the rooftops, moving incessantly before disappearing from view. Feng Yao watched Naruto, the protagonist of the series, in the distance.
He understood that Naruto was merely trying to attract attention. Only after transmigrating into this world could he truly feel the cold indifference the villagers held toward Naruto.
To be honest, even his parents in this world had warned him to stay away from Naruto, calling him a demon fox. It almost made Feng Yao laugh out loud; having watched the anime, he scoffed at such notions.
The people saved by the Fourth Hokage at the cost of his life were nothing but a group of ungrateful, ridiculous fools. He had a decent relationship with Naruto and had always intentionally tried to get close to him.
After all, if he really didn't make it far in the future, he would at least have a powerful thigh to cling to.
"Hey, Naruto!"
"Whoa! Iruka-sensei!"
Seeing Naruto, who had been caught by Iruka using the Straw Cloak Invisibility Technique, Feng Yao walked up to greet them.
"Iruka-sensei, Naruto, what are you two doing?"
"This..."
Naruto's face lit up when he saw Feng Yao, and just as he was about to say hello, he caught sight of Iruka's livid expression.
The words died on his lips. Feng Yao looked up at the stone faces of the past Hokage on the mountain; the graffiti on them was clearly Naruto's handiwork.
This marked the beginning of Naruto's legendary life, though his own arrival might cause Naruto to change this world—perhaps just a speck of dust, or perhaps a storm.
"It's class time, get back to class, all of you! You too, Feng Yao."
And so, Feng Yao and Naruto returned to the classroom at the Ninja Academy. Because he knew the script in advance, Feng Yao had already mastered the Clone Technique required for this graduation exam.
He had spent this period practicing it specifically, so being promoted to Genin and receiving his headband was a certainty. Feng Yao scanned his surroundings; the classroom was filled with people who would later become famous figures in the ninja world.
For example, Sasuke Uchiha, Shikamaru, Sakura Haruno, and others. If he didn't work hard enough, he would be easily defeated by these people, or worse, not even qualify as cannon fodder.
"Naruto, do you realize you've already failed graduation twice? This is no time for jokes, you idiot!"
Naruto turned his head away with a look of disdain, acting as if he were a dead pig unafraid of boiling water. Even Feng Yao couldn't help but chuckle at Naruto's current demeanor.
Who would have thought that this guy, who couldn't even perform a basic Clone Technique, would one day be someone capable of overturning the entire ninja world?
"Listen up, everyone! Today we are testing the Transformation Technique. Even those who have already passed need to come up here."
"Aww!"
"Naruto, this is all your fault!"
"What does that have to do with me?"
Everyone groaned in protest. Feng Yao rubbed his nose; the Transformation Technique was the one he was most proficient in.
In this class, there are truly few who can surpass his mastery of basic ninjutsu. He rests his head in his hands, leaning against the desk while watching the others undergo their assessment.
"First, Sakura Haruno."
Watching the pink-haired girl walk forward, Naruto's gaze seems drawn to her; this girl is the controversial Sakura Haruno of the Naruto world.
Behind her cute exterior hides a violent heart. Naruto is still too young, after all—isn't Hinata better?
As Feng Yao rubs his arm, which is aching from the recent training, and waits for Iruka to call his name, an ethereal voice suddenly echoes in his mind.
"Ding. System binding successful. Congratulations to the host for binding the Ninjutsu Limitation System. Do you wish to activate it now?"
What! A system? Is this for real? After twelve years in the Naruto world, he has finally waited for his spring; he had originally assumed he was just an ordinary salted fish.
He had been so afraid of death that he was even prepared to cling to the protagonist's leg, and now, he has finally received his golden finger.
Feng Yao's fingernails dig deep into his palms in excitement as he responds silently in his heart.
"Activate."
"Congratulations to the host for successful activation. Allow me to explain the power of this system: this system allows the host to randomly master a school or grade of ninjutsu from the ninja world. For example, it can allow the host to directly master all A-rank ninjutsu."
"When the system draws an A-rank ninjutsu, the host can only use A-rank ninjutsu to battle others and complete missions; you cannot use any other ninjutsu, senjutsu, or genjutsu outside of that."
"After each draw, it will change every six months. Since the host has just activated it, a draw has been performed automatically. Now, the host can master all senjutsu that have appeared in the ninja world, but you can only use senjutsu. Any ninjutsu or taijutsu outside of senjutsu will be impossible for the host to perform."
"Really! I can master all senjutsu? Wait, but I don't have senjutsu chakra, do I?"
Hearing this, Feng Yao is incredibly excited. Someone who could previously only learn E-rank ninjutsu can suddenly master all the senjutsu in Naruto—it feels like a pauper living on the streets yesterday suddenly winning a hundred million.
But as he calms down, he suddenly recalls the lore of Naruto: the release of senjutsu requires senjutsu chakra and entering Sage Mode. Senjutsu chakra is formed only after absorbing natural energy on the basis of physical and mental energy and fusing them completely.
Moreover, entering Sage Mode requires a massive amount of chakra and training at the three great holy lands. With his current meager chakra, it is impossible to grasp natural energy; he would simply give up and become a part of nature.
Very few in Naruto can enter Sage Mode; even Jiraiya did not have a perfect Sage Mode. This shows just how difficult it is to master.
"As a powerful system, if I want the host to become strong, I cannot provide too much help. You have already mastered all senjutsu, but the host must find a way to handle the chakra and Sage Mode issues yourself. The system will inform you of the locations of the three great holy lands in future missions."
"Are you kidding me? Without senjutsu chakra, how the hell am I supposed to release senjutsu? What's the point of just knowing it? My chakra isn't even worth mentioning. And you think the three great holy lands are just places you can walk into? Do you think it's your backyard? This system of yours must have been bought for nine bucks with free shipping. Don't you think you're embarrassing other systems?"
"Warning: If the host insults this system again, erasure will be implemented."
"Cough, cough. I'm just joking. Isn't there any other way? Is there no newcomer gift pack for my first time binding a system?"
"None. However, the system will arrange missions for the host to improve your strength, which includes increasing your chakra."
"That's barely acceptable, I suppose. Wait... I can't use any ninjutsu other than senjutsu now, so what about the few ninjutsu I've already learned?"
"Does the host have a problem with your memory? Of course, they cannot be used."
Hearing this, Feng Yao feels as uncomfortable as if he had eaten a prickly booger.
"Big brother, you can't be serious. I can't use senjutsu, and you won't let me use ninjutsu? This is the first time I've heard of a system binding that actually decreases one's strength."
"Very well, considering the host's talent, aptitude, and poor strength, this system will provide one more instance of help. I am giving the host your first mission: steal the Scroll of Seals. Time limit: one month. Reward: Increase the host's chakra capacity tenfold. Slogan: Young boy, go walk the path the protagonist once walked."
Looking at the mission and reward issued by the system, Feng Yao grinds his teeth in anger; this is even worse than being erased.
Stealing the Scroll of Seals—what is the Scroll of Seals! That is a forbidden scroll sealed personally by the First Hokage, Hashirama, and it is heavily guarded.
Naruto being able to get the Scroll of Seals in the early stages was actually due to the Third Hokage's tacit approval. Otherwise, how could a mere Naruto possess the ability to do something even a jonin might not be able to accomplish? And now, he can't even use those basic ninjutsu, further weakening his strength.
And this reward, while it looks generous, is not; because Feng Yao's internal chakra capacity is extremely low, even a tenfold increase would likely only bring him to a normal level—probably not even half of Naruto's.
"And what happens if this mission isn't completed?"
"If the mission cannot be completed, you will be erased."
"..."
Feng Yao curses the system silently a few more times, then sees that it is Naruto's turn to go up. Watching Naruto, Feng Yao suddenly has an idea; perhaps he doesn't need to steal the Scroll of Seals all by himself.
"Next, Naruto."
"No problem. Transformation: Sexy Technique!"
Naruto transforms into a beautiful woman with golden twin tails, and Iruka, standing opposite him, immediately has a nosebleed that sprays across the room.
This is a ninjutsu that even the Hokage and the Otsutsuki Clan cannot resist. Watching Naruto's Sexy Technique, Feng Yao silently thinks to himself whether he should find time to learn the Sexy Technique from Naruto; when drifting through the world, having more skills never hurts.
"Host, please stop these lewd thoughts immediately."
"Shut up, you shitty system. I am purely considering this for the sake of improving my strength. Don't you know this ninjutsu can even defeat the Hokage?"
"Even if the host learns it, you will be unable to use it."
"...That is also true."
Just as Feng Yao is still bickering with the system, Iruka has finished lecturing Naruto, and he calls his name next.
Countless horses are galloping through Feng Yao's heart. He originally found the Transformation Technique easy, but now he has been sabotaged by the system.
"Feng Yao, come demonstrate the Transformation Technique. Naruto, you should learn a thing or two from Feng Yao."
"This... actually..."
Feng Yao feels like he has never moved his feet so slowly in his life.
Suddenly, he remembers the graduation exam in two days, which requires the Clone Technique. He won't even be able to graduate. Could it be that he, a dignified transmigrator, will end up failing even the genin assessment?
