Background / History

Naruto attended Konoha's Ninja Academy alongside Feng Yao, Sasuke, Sakura, and other future shinobi. He was known for pranks, including defacing the Hokage Monument, because he sought the attention the village denied him 1. He failed the graduation examination alongside Feng Yao due to poor chakra control and his inability to perform the Clone Technique 2.

When Mizuki deceived Naruto into stealing the Scroll of Seals, Naruto initially intended to share the supposed graduation opportunity with Feng Yao. Feng Yao ambushed him and took the scroll, but Naruto later learned the Multi Shadow Clone Technique and protected Iruka from Mizuki 3.

During Team Kakashi's Land of Waves mission, Haku's attack pushed Naruto into a tailless Nine-Tails state. Feng Yao suppressed Naruto's unstable emotions with spiritual energy, preventing him from killing Haku 7.
