The Emperor, possessing Vanessa, walked slowly forward until she came to Clone Angron's side.
Then he did not even glance at the clone son he had mentioned.
Clone Angron immediately sensed that something was wrong. This was different from when all the clone Primarchs had traveled from Brumm to the Glorious Humanity flagship and encountered the Human Emperor's aspect, possessing a female psyker.
What, exactly, was different?
Clone Angron thought carefully, then keenly realized that it was the emotion he projected.
Though he had still cursed the Emperor's human aspect as a slave master back then, he had actually felt that the Emperor radiated humanity. There had been a certain warmth to him, and the gentleness he displayed had not been fabricated hypocrisy.
But now, upon seeing the female psyker carrying the Human Emperor once more, Clone Angron felt only a tempered coldness.
There was also a sense of familiarity.
A cold familiarity.
It was like the cold familiarity the Emperor had displayed during their first meeting in his memories, and every meeting thereafter.
A suspicion arose in Clone Angron's mind. Could it be... that this human aspect has merged with another aspect at this moment, tempering it back into its original personality?
"I do not think there is anything wrong with you putting on an act in front of him, whether you are acting for him or for me." A mocking expression actually appeared on the Daemon Primarch's vicious face. "But could you stop preventing me from killing this damned clone over and over again? Can't you protect him some other way, instead of repeatedly making it impossible for me to bring my sword down?"
