An ordinary Spirit Stone could never contain so many souls, but this one had been given to him by Uslan. The old Farseer had presented this special Spirit Stone to his comrade while the two traveled through the Webway to Commorragh.
Thinking of the Spirit Stone's origins and the sort of person its giver was, Qin Xa could not help suspecting that Uslan had left a "back door" in it—perhaps allowing him to steal the souls within as easily as reaching into his pocket.
Yet no matter how many times Qin Xa had sensed and examined it, then or now, he could only confirm that it was merely a Spirit Stone capable of holding many souls.
