By the time Huo Yuhao opened his eyes, he was already sitting in the Soul Guidance Flying Carriage on the way back to school. The first things he saw were Tang Ya staring at him curiously and Bei Bei leaning back in his seat with a relaxed air.
"Finally awake?" Bei Bei leaned back in his seat and turned his gaze to Huo Yuhao.
"Here's some not-so-good news, little brother Yuhao. You were so focused while absorbing the Immortal Herb that you went straight into Deep Meditation. Just like that, the entire winter break passed you by."
Bei Bei laced his hands behind his head. His tone sounded a little regretful, but there was something distinctly gleeful about him.
"You think you're so clever. Why have you become so annoying after only a few days apart?" Tang Ya immediately grabbed Bei Bei's ear and gave it a slight twist.
Bei Bei's teasing expression vanished at once. As if having his ear gently twisted were some terrible torture, he clasped his hands together and began pleading with Tang Ya.
"Ow, I was wrong, I was wrong! Come on, loosen your grip, please, my dear Xiao Ya..."
If Huo Yuhao had been this age in his previous life, he probably would have gone through the whole sequence: blushing, short-circuiting, then realizing he'd become a third wheel. But knowing the lives these two were destined to lead, he only felt that a scene like this was all the more precious.
Tang Ya and Bei Bei both looked at Huo Yuhao. Bei Bei in particular hadn't expected him to be the slightest bit embarrassed by the scene.
