Korgan Bloodaxe had a keen sense of timing, and this was the perfect moment. When the Green Knight had his comrade abandon the attack on Korgan and instead use his lance to shove him aside, he had lost his best chance to defend himself and could only face Korgan's battle axe head-on!
"Oak Shield!!!" As the ancient Druidic words were spoken, the bark bracer on the Green Knight's arm transformed amid a green glow into a shield made of oak. The shield was rough and primitive, covered in mottled bark, with even a few tender branches sprouting green leaves from it.
"Crack!" Though this hastily formed wooden shield was miraculous, it was still powerless against Korgan's ancestral enchanted battle axe. The massive axe split the wooden shield apart without resistance and chopped into the Green Knight's forearm! Half the shield and a section of the arm holding the oak lance were severed by Korgan's dwarven battle axe.
But that was enough. That slightest obstruction from the wooden shield gave the Green Knight enough time to make the best response. He had saved his life at the cost of one hand!
The elven warhorse nimbly carried its wounded master past Korgan. Its ghostly speed gave the dwarf no chance to press his advantage.
When the Green Knight faced Korgan again, Gillis still wore the same stern expression, showing not the slightest change despite having lost part of his arm.
Seeing the Green Knight's composure, Korgan showed a rare hint of appreciation for an elf.
"You're the toughest tough guy among all the pointy-ears I've ever seen. I always thought elves were all sissies."
"Dwarf! Your evil only makes me despise you more. You actually used someone who had lost the ability to resist as a shield. How despicable! Have you, a
