Perhaps the only one who wasn't curious about what would happen after the two big shots obtained the Pearl of Greed was Solam.
Because he had fortunately discovered that the most important thing within the Pearl of Greed had ended up in his hands.
Calling it "obtained" was giving Solam too much credit. He didn't have the ability to snatch anything from those two big shots—it had been that thing that latched onto Solam on its own!!!
Holding a crystal-like shard in his hand, Solam's entire face scrunched up. He had worn that expression from the moment the crystal shard landed in his hand. It couldn't be helped—he had never expected that one impulsive grab would land him in such enormous trouble.
Along with the shard came chaotic whispers that echoed in everyone's minds. The whispers were clear yet jumbled, as though two people were furiously arguing at incredible speed. The language they spoke was an exceedingly depraved and dangerous one. Anyone who heard it had to make a Will save; failure meant their body would immediately collapse into a mindless mass of shapeless flesh.
Because of this damned thing, three Balor guards at Solam's side had already been affected, forcing him to put them down humanely. Now, no one—human or ghost—dared approach him. Solam could only lock himself away at the deepest level of Doomsday Fortress, hoping to isolate the influence.
If things had stopped there, Solam could only have called it a minor inconvenience. After all, while this thing was terrifying, it was obviously an exceptionally rare treasure. But the problem lay precisely in those clear yet chaotic whispers.
Though the whispers were jumbled, it was still possible to make out certain things.
From their contents, he could tell that two people were arguing and cursing each other.
