Background / History
Solam possesses knowledge from another world, though his personal history began as a blank slate. Even as a child, that knowledge made him more calculating than his peers, and he became the informal leader of the other children in Avalon 3.
Grand Knight Commander Sokya carried the infant Solam across the Spine of the World and returned him to Avalon, where Solam grew up among orcs. Solam remains grateful for Sokya's care and considers his life in Avalon deeply important 989.
At twelve, Solam's unusually high Perception, Strength, and Constitution made him a point of dispute between Granny Karom, who wanted him trained as a shaman, and Chief Kramsh, who favored a warrior's path 17. He ultimately underwent Spirit Communion, becoming an Elemental Shaman with the rare Elemental Totem talent 19.
Solam spent two years with the Forge Clan, learning blacksmithing under Blackhand while developing as both a shaman and warrior. He later left the clan with Frostfang, Thor's Hammer, and a reforged replica of Gorehowl 19 24.
Appearance
In his mortal form, Solam is a tall Beast Elf whose appearance is markedly more human than orcish. His mixed heritage gave him an orc's robust physique and an elf's high intelligence, while his elven traits became more pronounced as he matured 23 44.
- Stands approximately 1.9 meters tall after his early years of growth 19.
- White hair and silver eyes 44.
- Keeps the sides of his hair short, with the longer top tied into a small ponytail 44.
- Is often mistaken for a human rather than a half-orc 601.
- Previously appeared in the Angel King Armor as a fully gold-armored figure with wings of light and a Flame Chariot 1083.
- While fused with Kardum, assumed the form of a Balor with radically enhanced physical attributes 1160.
Personality
Solam is intensely curious about magic and unfamiliar knowledge. His interest in spellcasting drove him to become an Arcane Knight despite already following the shamanic path, and he later devoted himself to studying Karsus's techniques, legendary spells, and the Book of All Spells 34 628 1543.
He is blunt, pragmatic, and impatient with ceremony. His orc-influenced upbringing frequently clashes with noble etiquette, and he prefers direct negotiations over polite evasions 190 594. He can nevertheless treat companions and subordinates fairly, earning the trust of mixed groups of adventurers, soldiers, priests, and temple knights through impartial leadership 162.
Solam is protective of those he recognizes as family or companions, particularly Frostfang, whom he considers equal in importance to Lilith rather than a mere pet 1092. Conversely, he can be exceptionally violent when provoked or when he sees killing as the simplest solution, a tendency that became more severe during his time as a demon lord 283 1530.
Abilities & Skills
Elemental Shamanism
Solam's Elemental Totem is soulbound and grants him connections to Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. He was also favored by four Elemental Demigods, an exceptionally rare circumstance for a shaman 19 46.
- Casts shaman spells without speaking, allowing him to conceal buffs and casting preparations from opponents 354.
- Uses enhancement magic such as Rejuvenation Spell, Giant Strength, and Wind Agility 354.
- Can summon and command fire salamanders to subdue enemies 356.
- Has used elemental transformation to remove conventional bodily weak points and survive attacks that would kill an ordinary humanoid 820.
- Demonstrated overwhelming fire-infused elemental power by burning through a basilisk with a single punch 1614.
Arcane Knight Spellcasting
Solam combines armored melee combat with arcane magic. Armored Casting and Arcane Modification allow him to cast effectively while equipped for frontline combat 42 47.
- Uses combat casting to weave spells into close-quarters engagements 940.
- Countered Teleport with Dimensional Anchor during a duel with a black-robed mage 412.
- Used Temporal Stasis and Soul Bind to defeat and capture a Balor's soul 729.
- Cast Meteor Swarm to destroy enemy soldiers in Crimmor 906.
- Learned Prescott's spatial spell techniques: Prescott Spatial Disorder, Prescott Spatial Blades, and Prescott Spatial Burst 628.
- Obtained the legendary spell Annihilation Singularity through an agreement with Osvid 1550.
Innate Abilities
Solam possesses several personal powers that accelerate his development beyond normal training.
- Toughness — supports high-intensity training and Arcane Modification 44.
- Communication — enables communication with Frostfang and improves his interaction with the Weave 19 44.
- Focus — allows him to absorb knowledge and techniques at extraordinary speed 44.
- Precision — grants extreme accuracy in movement, attacks, spell gestures, and incantations; it also reduces distractions while casting 269.
- Mental resilience — resisted Sokya's overwhelming aura and is immune to soul-affecting spells, causing a Soul Bind assassination attempt to backfire 990 814.
Silver Fire
Silver Fire remained within Solam despite Mystra being unable to explain why. It grants him unusual control over magical energy and substantially deepened his understanding of magic 1150 1534.
- Doomsday Rend — a Silver Fire-derived technique that gave Solam a decisive advantage over Huo Keduo 1150.
- Can use Silver Fire in unconventional combinations with positive energy and fire magic 1171.
- The power is associated with Beshaba's intervention rather than standard status as one of Mystra's Chosen 1150.
Balor King Transformation
After being banished to the Abyss and forced to fuse with Kardum, Solam became the Balor King and ruled the Sixth Pyre 1156 1162.
- Possessed three hearts, limitless stamina, and extreme vitality through a supernatural physique 1160.
- Gained mastery of two-weapon fighting, a critical-strike effect, enhanced willpower, and enhanced toughness 1160.
- Controlled lava and flame through the Ashbringer talent 1160.
- Created a sun over the Sixth Pyre using purification power and divinity from an amorphous divine artifact 1162.
- Eventually split free of the demonic body and returned to a mortal form, leaving most of the integrated Angel King Armor behind 1521 1535.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Angel King Armor — A Netheril-era relic based on the Angel King Midaren. It fused with Solam and could not be removed without killing him; its core survived, but most of the armor was left in his former Balor body and the remainder is damaged 584 1535.

- Thor's Hammer — A high-level magical warhammer that boosted Solam's Strength and Constitution; one of his formative heirloom weapons 24 1535.
- Replica Gorehowl — A heavy reforged weapon carried alongside Thor's Hammer when he left the Forge Clan 24.

- Granny Karom — Spirit Shaman who pushed for Solam's shaman training, conducted his attribute test, and taught him the fundamentals of Elemental Shamanism 17 19.
- Blackhand — Elemental Shaman, accomplished blacksmith, and Solam's teacher in the Forge Clan 19.
- Frostfang — Solam's mount, companion, and family in his own view; Solam rejects the idea that Frostfang is merely a pet 19 1092.
- Queen Laeral Silverhand — Queen of Silverymoon and Mystra's Chosen; traveled with Solam, was rescued from the Well of Darkness, and is among the few who know the truth of Solam's identity as distinct from Kardum 190 1364 1383.
- Mevis — Close companion who worries over Solam's safety and behavior; provided him stealth gear and later sought to restrain his worst impulses after his return from the Abyss 157 1530.
