Pandemonium was perhaps the most desolate place among the Outer Planes. That was easy enough to explain: this place simply did not welcome visitors. True, there were plenty of planes hotter, colder, or inhabited by more brutal residents than this one, but when it came to solitude and madness, this place was absolutely unique. This birdcage was like an endless cavern, filled with shrieking gales rampaging through it.
Pandemonium contained countless twisted underground tunnels intertwined with one another, choked with howling winds. These tunnels ranged from paths too narrow for a person to pass through to ones almost infinitely vast. Yet regardless of their size, they nearly all shared two things: first, gravity here existed only to make someone slam into a wall in the shortest possible time; second, the winds here were filled with eternal wails.
Sometimes, the distant echoes carried by the faintest breeze sounded like the sobs of someone in immense agony. At other times, violent hurricanes carried those wails at an unbelievably deafening volume, making you feel them deep in your bones, enough to make even the largest caverns tremble. Of course, such wind was merely the least significant trouble you had to deal with. A gale could easily lift some poor soul and hurl him hundreds of meters away, smashing him heavily against stone, or in an instant blow someone away until nothing remained.
Even more terrifying was that all energy here lay utterly dormant. In other words, no supernatural power could be used here!
It could be said that this place was more hellish than Hell itself. Amid endless solitude, there was only the sound of wind capable of driving a soul completely mad. Those who lived within were either blown into dust by the gales or gradually turned into mindless ghosts amid despair
