"A child?" Barit was stunned when he saw the beautiful little boy before him. He had considered many possibilities, but never had he imagined that someone who had slipped past everyone so easily and infiltrated this heavily guarded secret chamber would be a child.
Hearing Barit's muttering, a vicious glint flashed through Alfred's eyes, and killing intent instantly surged toward him. Alfred had been turned into a vampire through the Embrace while he was still a child, leaving him forever unable to grow up, forever trapped in the appearance of a little boy. This was one of Alfred's sore spots—anyone who touched upon it could immediately enrage him.
As a berserker, Barit was innately extremely sensitive to killing intent. Facing Alfred's murderous aura, his entire bearing changed. His once-honest face suddenly became savage, the muscles throughout his body tightened at once, and the veins beneath his skin began to bulge. His body instantly grew much larger.
This was a unique ability of legendary berserkers, a special gift Barit had acquired after years of Berserk. He could control his body and enter a semi-enhanced state at any time. Though the boost to his physical abilities was not as great as Berserk, it was far less extreme and placed very little strain on the body—so little it could practically be ignored. It was extremely practical.
For a berserker, the foremost requirement was fearlessness. Barit naturally knew that anyone capable of infiltrating this place without a sound could not possibly be simple, especially since this little boy was Adrian's guest. That made it even more impossible for him to be an ordinary person. But since the little brat had provoked him first, Barit could not back down!
If a berserker feared battle when facing an enemy, then there would be no point in
