"Perhaps he wanted his people to become like the residents of the Knowledge Islands as well—clean, sunny, courteous, and confident." After thinking it over, Solam decided to voice what was on his mind. It was nothing shameful. What was there not to say?
"Just as I thought!" Colson grew even more excited. He had spent his whole life hoping to meet someone like this. He hurriedly asked, "Then what do you plan to do next? Do you have a plan?"
He desperately wanted to know what kind of impact and change this pioneer of the age would bring to this era. He was thrilled beyond measure and could hardly wait.
Unfortunately, he was overthinking things. Solam was certainly intelligent—otherwise, he would never have achieved what he had today—but calling him some far-sighted, supremely capable enlightened ruler was giving him far too much credit. He usually did not think that much before acting, and sometimes he could be especially willful.
Solam scratched the back of his head and said somewhat awkwardly, "As for a plan... I haven't thought that far ahead. I just want them to read a few more books. Besides, it won't cost much."
Colson nearly spat blood at that answer. What kind of answer was that?! He sounded exactly like an obscenely rich tycoon, completely unlike the visionary, ambitious figure Colson had imagined. And what did he mean, it would not cost much?!
Six hundred thousand books were worth over three million gold coins! That was already an enormous sum! Even if they sold their entire monastery, they probably would not be able to scrape together that much money. Yet to Solam, it seemed as ordinary as pocket change.
In fact, that was not far from the truth. Solam himself no longer knew how much money he had.
