After Isaac and his group left, Harris said a few words and departed as well. Only then did the hotel manager finally arrive. After Joey told him what had happened, he did not say much. He merely thanked Solam, waived the cost of his meal, and told him that all of his future expenses here would be free.
"Eh? You're being this generous?" Solam found it rather strange. The prices here were not low, and it seemed impossible that the manager would give him such a huge reward over such a minor matter.
"Hehe, those were our boss's personal instructions. Our boss likes making friends, especially capable friends such as yourself." The manager did not elaborate, only saying that the boss had personally ordered it.
"Your boss is here? Then I should properly thank him. May I pay him a visit?" Solam was rather curious about the owner of Red Boots. Since the man had offered such generous treatment right away, he had to meet him at least once.
"What a pity. Our boss just left. He said there were some business matters in Silverymoon that required his attention."
"That really is unfortunate. Since he isn't here, forget it. There'll be plenty of chances to meet in the future." Although Solam felt that a boss willing to humble himself like this must be after something, he could not imagine what the man might covet from him. So he did not dwell on it. When the time came, he would naturally find out what the boss wanted.
"I still have some things to handle, so I won't keep you company any longer. Joey, get off work early today and properly thank this warrior." With that, he gave Joey a meaningful look and left.
