Asmodeus

The Pact Primeval stipulated that Asmodeus and his ugly followers had to leave the homeland of the ancient gods of order and go live elsewhere. One theory held that the ancient gods of order had originally made their lair on Mount Celestia, though there was no conclusive evidence.

(Angels had originally been radiant and beautiful, but after fighting the primordial demons for too long, they became corrupted. Asmodeus and his companions grew uglier by the day. Fangs grew from their mouths, their tongues forked, and flames surrounded them. At the same time, the pact stipulated that Asmodeus and his followers could not stand alongside the gods. In other words, devils could not become gods.

Of course, the gods had no intention of completely abandoning Asmodeus and his angelic army. Order's foremost duty was to destroy chaos. However, the pact did not merely prescribe Asmodeus's responsibilities; it also had to grant him corresponding rewards. Otherwise, even if Asmodeus had lost his mind, he would never have signed such a contract.

So, before all the ancient gods of order, Asmodeus gave an impassioned speech and talked them into securing a whole heap of rewards for these "angels." First, fighting chaos was fine, but they had to be paid.
