The Treacherous Shard of the Magic Crystal

"It's the Blood Essence Stone." Solam's question was quickly answered by the Shard of the Magic Crystal. The Shard had followed Klauth for centuries; aside from Klauth himself, no one in this world understood him better than it did.

"What is the Blood Essence Stone?" Solam asked curiously. He had never heard of such a thing before.

"It is a magical item Klauth developed himself to control the Dragonborn under his command. Any Dragonborn carrying his bloodline will be controlled by that Blood Essence Stone."

No wonder.

Solam finally understood why the proud and unruly Dragonborn obediently submitted to Klauth's control. So that was the reason. Having realized this, Solam thought one step further.

"What would happen if there were no Blood Essence Stone?"

"The Dragonborn would definitely rebel!" the Shard of the Magic Crystal said decisively.

Klauth might have been the father of those Dragonborn, but in the face of freedom, ninety-nine percent of them wished he would hurry up and die. Half of them even wished they could kill Klauth with their own hands.

Klauth was no good man. He treated the Dragonborn much the same way he treated the monsters outside. He never regarded them as his own bloodline, only as slaves.

Red dragons were generally like that. They looked down even on their own kind, let alone mongrels mixed with inferior bloodlines. But because Klauth relied on the Blood Essence Stone to control the Dragonborn, he went even further.

Even when other evil dragons created Dragonborn, they generally did not create too many. After all, enough ants could kill an elephant. Dragonborn, whatever else they were, carried dragon blood and were unquestionably formidable in battle. If too many were created, then should they turn on their creator, it would be exceedingly dangerous even for a dragon.
