Life confined to bed had been unbearably dull. Aside from letting his thoughts run wild and teasing Loris and Scarlett, there was nothing to entertain him. As for Isabella, after what had happened last time, the girl finally seemed to have come to her senses and consciously stopped being alone with Solam.
Solam felt somewhat regretful about that, but he did not think much of it. After all, she had a boyfriend.
By the fifth day, Solam could no longer endure it. If he stayed in bed any longer, he felt like mushrooms would start growing on him. In the end, he could only have Isabella find someone to make him a wheelchair.
Come to think of it, Solam had not expected Faerûn to have wheelchairs. Though it looked rather crude and was made entirely of wood—even the wheels—it was extremely uncomfortable to sit in.
Still, Solam was quite happy. He could move his upper body now, though his lower body remained somewhat beyond his control. His nerves probably had not fully recovered yet. That was precisely why he could no longer stay idle. If he had still been completely paralyzed, then lying in bed would have been fine—he was already like that, so going out or staying in made no difference.
But once he was able to move, Solam's restless heart could no longer be restrained.
The first time he was pushed out of the house, the sight before him captivated him.
Looking out from the front door, Solam discovered that the house stood at the highest point of a river valley. On the side facing the valley lay vast terraces of red earth, densely covered in grapevines. At this time, every vine was heavy with fruit.
The purple grapes looked especially tempting, and many workers beneath the vines
