Solam's order for Bruce to pack up the old bishop's personal belongings caused a slight stir among those present. It was not because of the value of those items; as mentioned before, the old bishop had devoted his entire life to the Lord of Radiance and possessed virtually no personal wealth. Those things were merely ordinary books and notebooks, nothing worth mentioning.
Rather, it was because doing so was far too disrespectful to the deceased!
In the end, however, Bruce and several calmer priests persuaded the others not to do anything rash. Of course, Solam's good relationship with the Radiance Church also played a very important role in that.
