Hearing Solam's words, Digla fell silent. He was not actually stupid, so naturally he knew Solam was right—but what could he do? It was not as if he had never considered finding Natalie Ann and then fleeing far away with her. But he had tried, and found nothing.
Some things could not be solved by strength alone. In Toussaint, he had neither connections nor helpers. What could he use to find a woman being secretly held captive in a city of two hundred thousand people? What was he thinking? This was fantasy, sure, but not that fantastical!
So Digla had no choice but to place his hopes in the promise made by the person behind it all. He did not even want revenge. As long as he could get Natalie Ann back, he would leave immediately.
