Background

Hagoromo and his brother Hamura sealed their mother, Kaguya Otsutsuki, after she gained power from the God Tree. Hagoromo later founded the Ninja Sect and distributed chakra. His sons, Indra and Ashura, continued their conflict through reincarnating chakra; Madara Uchiha and Senju Hashirama carried their respective chakras 247 263.

Hagoromo first appears in Nagato's laboratory when Genkawa Uchiha brings in chakra extracted from Sasuke. He asks Genkawa to spare Indra's chakra, explaining that it belongs to his child. Genkawa refuses and challenges Hagoromo's claim to guide the Ninja World toward peace. Their encounter turns hostile; Hagoromo attempts to capture him but fails and withdraws 238 239 241 242.

From the Yellow Springs, Hagoromo watches Genkawa's growing power and brings Hamura into the conflict. He recruits Naruto and Madara, gives them Six Paths Power, and returns Indra Chakra to Madara to restore his Rinnegan. He also cooperates with Isshiki despite recognizing the danger of that alliance 252 264 289 310.

After Kaguya's release, Hagoromo seeks her out and urges his divided family and allies to unite against Genkawa. In their eventual confrontation, Hagoromo fights alongside Kaguya, Hamura, and Isshiki. Genkawa overpowers the group; Hagoromo escapes through a spatial rift while the others are turned into golden beads and absorbed. Genkawa later finds him hiding within a crystal in a space filled with departed souls 386 401 441 468 482.

Appearance

Hagoromo appears as an elderly man, often hovering with a translucent body. His complete Ōtsutsuki form has horns and a decorated white robe 238 262 441.
