Innate Divine Ability

Above Franklin, the aura of Edicts rapidly gathered. Vast quantities of gray-white energy around him converged just as quickly, finally condensing into a single point. Then the Heaven and Earth Rules dissipated...

Seconds later, with a whoosh, it plunged into Franklin's pillar-shaped body. Streams of gray-white divine power poured into him, beginning the transformation of his divine body.

Just then, an unforeseen change occurred. The gray-white crystal that had entered Franklin's body suddenly vanished, swallowed into his Soul Space.

Rumble—The winds and clouds shifted, lightning flashed and thunder roared. The Heaven and Earth Rules changed drastically, and space seemed on the verge of shattering. Seven-colored Laws of Heaven and Earth enveloped Franklin.

Space blurred, and Lei Mo's soul consciousness descended into a vast, ashen-gray void.

The space seemed small, yet also boundless. Countless seven-colored motes of light drifted within it.

Amid them were densely packed humanoid phantoms, their Tauren features faintly visible.

Meanwhile, outside, Franklin suddenly grew taller and thicker. In the blink of an eye, he became a towering pillar reaching a thousand meters high and a hundred meters across.

He stood there in the middle of the chaotic battlefield, shrouded in seven-colored light. Lei Mo's body was inside it too, then slowly disappeared—or rather, became invisible.

Driven by curiosity, many soldiers walked closer and tried touching the seven-colored pillar of light with their weapons.

But there was nothing there. It seemed to have truly vanished. That was right: apart from Lei Mo, everyone else could see only the seven-colored pillar of light.

Franklin and Lei Mo had not left. They were still right where they had been, unseen and untouchable by others.

Lei Mo's consciousness drifted through the space. Wherever his thoughts led, he could arrive in an instant!

"Whoa, what the—Is this Teleportation?"

Unfortunately, this was only his consciousness. Lei Mo had already guessed where he had ended up; the place matched Franklin's description almost exactly.

Who knew how long passed? Here, he could not feel the passage of time.

"Master—" Franklin's voice rang out, bringing Lei Mo back to his senses!

"Master, you came in too! I broke through and became God Rank—in other words, the Lowgod you mentioned. There really aren't any specific Mysteries. It should be the Law of Death!" Franklin said.

"You fused the Godhead into yourself? What's the situation now?"

Lei Mo was deeply puzzled.

"Master—you told me to become a god with the Godhead outside my body, but there wasn't any such option! The Godhead just formed above my head!"

Franklin sounded aggrieved. He had failed to follow Lei Mo's instructions, and it made him feel awful!

"Then the Godhead flew into my body and started transforming it, changing me toward a humanoid shape. But suddenly, my Soul Space swallowed it..."

Franklin was just as bewildered, with no idea what had happened.

"Is the Godhead still there after being swallowed? And why did your true form grow so huge?" Lei Mo asked, still confused.

"After the Godhead was swallowed into the space, all the energy transforming my divine body was sucked in too. Then the space expanded at an incredible speed, and my body grew along with it!"

"The Godhead hasn't disappeared. I can return it to my body anytime. It's just that I've lost my chance to transform my body. I don't know if I'll ever be able to become humanoid now..."

Franklin looked ready to cry.

"Is your soul inside the Godhead?"

Franklin had no experience with this, but Lei Mo did. This was a crucial question!

"Of course my soul is inside the Godhead! What's wrong, Master?"

Franklin was baffled. Why was his master asking such a basic question?

Hadn't his master said souls were all inside Godheads?

"So that means you and your Godhead can hide in the space together whenever you want. If your Godhead is inside the space, can you still control your true body?"

Lei Mo continued, a glimmer flashing in his eyes.

"Of course! Ever since your blood activated the space, Master, I've been able to control my body and sense the outside world even when my soul consciousness is inside!"

Franklin was confused by the questions, but stayed true to his principle of never doubting his master and answered honestly.

"One last question. It seems my soul came in here too. Does that mean my soul consciousness can enter and leave this Soul Space whenever I want?"

Lei Mo's eyes shone brighter and brighter, almost like light bulbs.

"You can try, Master. Only an instant has passed outside."

Franklin still thought it would be safer to test it!

Lei Mo's soul consciousness instantly returned to his body. He moved around a little, then sent his soul consciousness back into the Soul Space!

After testing it, he found that when his soul entered the space, time outside seemed to flow much more slowly.

"Does that mean Franklin and I no longer have to fear soul attacks?"

Franklin in particular could not only ignore soul attacks, but also keep attacking others. That was incredible!

Lei Mo's eyes lit up. He wasn't entirely sure yet, and there was no way to test it for now. Besides, he only had one life.

He had Franklin shrink back to his former size, carry him, expand his Divine Domain, and vanish from the battlefield in an instant.

Lei Mo found a secluded spot, went through his practiced routine, and sat cross-legged.

His consciousness sank into his sea of awareness. He carefully sensed the clear, constant ripples of Edicts, which clung to him like a shadow.

Lei Mo took out Franklin and drove him hard into the ground. He transformed into a Totem Pillar dozens of meters high.

The Runes carved into its surface were clearly visible. Lei Mo found the mysterious, complex Destruction Rune that defied description, and clearly sensed the ripples of Edicts coming from it.

"The tide has turned!"

Lei Mo also felt that the Runes on Franklin's true body had become more complete. It probably wasn't his imagination.

"Franklin—there's one more crucial question. What's your Innate Divine Ability?"

Lei Mo suddenly remembered the cold, scaly feel of Franklin when he had touched him earlier. He asked offhandedly, without much hope.

"What is an Innate Divine Ability, Master?"

Franklin asked.

It seemed they really had never discussed this. The Bloodhoof Tribe had no divine beasts, and Lei Mo had never thought of Franklin as one.

Franklin was just a Totem Pillar. At most, he counted as a Heaven and Earth Wonder. But now Lei Mo suddenly saw it differently.

"It's an ability you know instinctively, one you only master after becoming a god, and one that consumes your soul energy!"

Lei Mo patiently explained, making himself perfectly clear.

"I think I have an ability. It feels pretty much like the abilities I had before. I can forcibly enslave a living being's soul."

"I could already do that before. If I just beat someone to death with my true body, that counts as enslaving them too, doesn't it?"

Franklin said nonchalantly.

He truly didn't think the ability was all that great. It even consumed soul energy, which recovered very slowly.

"You're wrong! That ability of yours is unbelievably powerful!"

Lei Mo spoke with a mixture of exasperation and envy.

"You think it's nothing special because you've controlled or enslaved so many souls. But all those souls are ordinary. They aren't divine beasts!"
